Finished the main story last night, whew, what a ride. Really enjoyed it, the characters, quests/quest lines, especially the writing.

I romanced Yen, I liked her a bit more compared to Triss. Yen seemed to genuinely care for Geralt but hid it behind a wall of bitchiness at times.


Killed Radovid and Dijkstra, sided with Roche and Ves. Cerys is queen of Skellige. 2/3 Crones dead, Baron took his wife to get help, trolls are bros.



Got the "Bitersweet ending" for Ciri, where she leaves to become Empress. Not let down by it either, I like the ending. Was sad to see Geralt blindsided that Ciri was leaving him, but like siding with Cerys, she'll make a good ruler. Also really enjoyed the curtain pulled back from The Wild Hunt, showing them to be elves and men, not just marauding single purpose monsters. Visiting the Elf world to meet Ge'els was a fun quest.


My only complaint is the ending felt rushed at times? The White Frost was kind of just "there" fade to black. Wild Hunt was built up and the fights were kind of cookie cutter.

Still, loved the game, currently playing Hearts of Stone than Blood and Wine.

LOL In my four playthru's I have romanced Triss once and I felt horrible doing it. Having read all of the books and played all of the games, I just cant see Geralt with anybody else at the end of this story.

The more I think about The Witcher and look back on it, the higher it goes on my list of all-time favorites. Skyrim still reigns supreme for me at the top but The Witcher is awful close.

I love everything about The Witcher.

The Adventure game came out in 2014 and I just now discovered it somehow. I've been playing it on PC for the last few days.

Finished up Hearts of Stone this morning after getting hooked on the story. The quality of story from a smallish expansion was better than some parts of the main story and even some games. I

really liked how they slowly unfolded what was going on, Mirror Man basically being a/the devil.



Shani is great, the whole wedding quest with Vlad and Geralt going back and forth was comedy gold at times. Went with the Shani romance, shame she couldn't stick around, I like her more than Tris and Yen.



Killed both brothers during the heist, got the viper gear, enjoyed Iris and The Black Cat and Dog demons, took the rose from her and defeated Mirror Man because screw him.

Onto Blood and Wine sometime this week.

I have a confession to make...........I had only gotten through the Bloody Baron mission when I played this game before. Not sure why I stopped playing but I have picked it back up and so glad I did. Really is a great story and love the rpg.

I’m debating restarting this as I haven’t played this in a good while. I’ve forgotten so much and I can’t remember the controls. Just hate to lose all the hours I’ve put in to restart but I’m clueless right now

Blood and Wine is done, which means my first playthrough is also done. I

enjoyed Toussaint, the color palette and architecture was different from the main story areas. It also felt like they tried more things with quests, side quests and characters compared to the main game.


Hearts of Stone had a tighter, self contained story, but I liked the characters introduced in Blood and Wine. Anna Henrietta was interesting, I liked that she wasn't afraid to be hands on, mix things up. Regis was also a well rounded character. Syanna to me was my favorite character in the expansion, very well written and a solid villain.

I went into the fairytale world with her, used her as bait, killed Dettlaff and the sisters reconciled. Also liked that Yen came to live with Geralt, hanging out in the garden.

I helped the Oriole woman break the curse and go explore, won the tourney, fully renovated the house, had the two feuding wine makers jointly manage the vineyard, broke the curse on the Wight and invited the lady to be the cook at my house.

Favorite quest had to be the unmarked one where Roach starts talking to you, helping you track down the Umbra. Man the fourth wall breaking lines were great, easily one of my favorite quests in the game.

I can't see going through NG+ for a long while, amazing game, just too much to do and I'm Witcher'd out at the moment.

The good news is the game gives you a lot of reading material about the quests you have done, bestiary, etc. You could probably spend a few minutes reading through that stuff and the details of some quests and remember what was going on when you stopped playing.

At least once a week, I think about how I wish I could wipe the game from my mind, and start it anew. I completed the game (and DLCs) about a year ago, and like others, I want to do a second play-through, but I know the type of investment it takes. It is a commitment. Also, you only get that "first time" feeling once. Sigh.

Reading the books now, and for me it's making the gap behind Witcher ever wider. Just a phenomenal game and so much better than anything I've ever played.

Skyrim never took me and I started it a half dozen times. Only games I remember in the same realm as fondly as Witcher 3 are: Mass Effect 1, Last of Us, Chrono Trigger, and FFVI.

I just started my 5th play thru. It may not be the "first time" feeling. But I adore this game. The Witcher story and mostly the Witcher 3 have touched me in ways that very few games do or have ever. I do not see a time in my life that I will never be playing The Witcher in some way. They times may get a little longer in between off game times as the days go. But I will never not have this game in some form to play and come back to on a moments notice.

After soaking in my first playthough, I definitely agree with both of you and now expect a better level of character interaction and writing in future games I play. First game in a while that made me audibly chuckle/laugh at some of the lines or be fully invested in the cast of characters.

See. therein lies part of my problem. I have started other games since The Witcher 3 came out. A lot of them I would be playing and I would be sitting there thinking " this isn't as good as The Witcher" or "there are side quests in The Witcher that are better than this game" and there you go I am back playing it again.
