10 missions, last a good 8 hours. So yeah it is long enough. That is longer then Battlefield 4 and COD Ghosts story lines.

Just picked this game up today; first Assassins Creed that I have purchased. Any tips ahead of time before I jump in?

      Thanks

Remember to put the game controller down at some point and get some sleep. Time flies by playing some of the AC games, especially this one when you're out on the open sea battling/looting ships, treasure hunting, and whatnot.

Mix up the game play. Forts, missions, item collecting, etc so you don't burn yourself out. Also unlocking all items in a certain area before you exit will help not be so overwhelmed later on.

Take ya time. AC is a marathon.

Thanks for the tips; I definitely plan on taking my time and enjoying this ala Tomb Raider.

              Edit : Read it wrong.

Ubisoft needs to drop some more dlc, as I really want to fire this greatness back up.

you've made a damn fine purchase my friend. This game is just pure out awesomeness. The amount of stuff you can do is amazing...I'm not that far along (only in sequence 5) but it's sooo easy to get sidetracked with finding all the collectibles, harpooning, sea battles and assassination jobs...not to mention looting warehouses, taking over naval bases and looking for treasure with the various maps found, and you have a game that will last you a looooong time.

I really do feel bad though,as this game has pulled me away from BF4,and I do miss the guys, but DAMN...this game is just addictive as hell bro,and hopefully you'll get the same thrill out of it and I and many other do/have.

Just remember...take your time and soak it all in,as this game is not only beautiful to look at,but also very immersive (imo)....oh yea...if you think Tomb Raider took alot of time away from other games...we won't see you for about 6 months...LMAO

Enjoying Adewale's storyline, I see that you can upgrade his ship as well, his story is really good.

Is it wrong that my favorite weapon is the bezerk dart? I'll use it lots of times just to mess around rather than accomplish anything. It cracks me up watching the chaos after hitting a few guards with those and a big rumble ensues with like a dozen guards.

Re: Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag

You know, I usually put this game down after a few hours and it'll be days - maybe even a week later until I pick it up again because I rotate between NHL, Gears, WWE 2k14 and this. Last night I had the coolest experience. I've recently just started harpooning sea creatures because I'm not very far into the story at all (about 23%).

Last night after taking down a naval fort (my first one, yay!) I saw a humpback whale in my area. As I'm getting ready to harpoon the animal - a nasty storm comes in. So I'm trying to hunt this animal on a dark screen with rain pouring down, thunder booming and lightning flashing in the distance. All the while, this whale is fighting back like an MFer. Tail slaps, breaching the surface, etc.

I managed to kill it, watch my crew string it up from the ship and said out loud "That was awesome".

                      It's the little things man.

I have no freaking clue what to do...I have to find a way to Havana, but can't get any missions triggered. I go to the bird and exclamation point and nothing. Just wandering and killing wild boar so far.

The "bird" is there to let you know that there is a place you need to climb to "sync" to that area....which opens up parts of the island and it will show locations of the various treasures and such...but also know that there are several of these sync locations to get to to open up more of the island and get the treasure and other things.

As far as the exclamation point goes,is there is usually someone you need to talk to in order to "trigger" the mission...so just check around and you should get the prompt to hit "O" in order to accept the mission.

I collected almost everything on the island; confused about the animal icons, I could not find the prowler monkey or jaguar.

I'm now on the next mission guiding the boat. May have to take a break from BF4 to make a dent in this game. With all the collectibles it may take a good while.

Hunting doesn't open up for a little bit so those animal icons on the first location don't spawn anything.

When does "fast travel" unlock and can you go back and collect missed items after you complete the main missions?

Also, how long is the game if I try to collect and loot everything along with the story?
