Kotaku: The Evil Within Made Me Want To Throw Up
At any point during The Evil Within you know that there's a presence looming. Revik is the main villain of The Evil Within, and he's impossible to even damage. The only thing to do is hope your mind doesn't wander into insanity too much while you desperately try to run away from him. Oh, except he can teleport, so sometimes that doesn't even matter. But at any given point in The Evil Within, Revik can decide to appear, and so there's a constant fear that one step too far into a hallway or room or out some doors will trigger that event that sets off another confrontation. I'm under constant pressure just waiting for him to show up when I least expect it, heart alternating between soft, consistent thuds and rapid alerts screaming at me that I'm in danger.

Re: The Evil Within
This game looks so awesome to me but it might be a little too intense for my threshold. I had trouble getting through Outlast, and this seems like it takes it up a notch.
Looks like a very well done game though."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Evil Within
So it seems this is another survival game where it's all hide/evade....?
If so I'm passing. I liked Outlast but ready for something else.
I want a game where I have the option to fight back this time.
Glad these are around though for those lthat like them as we need differnt games overall.Last edited by Skyboxer; 05-31-2014, 03:33 PM.Joshua:

Re: The Evil Within
Very little hype surrounding this one. Guess lack of polish and bigger titles caused it to be lost in the 4th quarter shuffle.
I'm torn between picking it up on release or waiting until November when the price drops to $50-40. Having not played a non-sports or game off PSN since Watch Dogs has me dying for something new. I want something I can play between sports titles. And even though it looks rough around the edges a bit, I like the old school RE vibe it gives off. Only other game left in 2014 for me is Far Cry 4 which I will be waiting on until after the holidays when I devote my full attention to it.Comment

Re: The Evil Within
After watching about 20 minutes or so of that walkthrough, im still looking forward to buying and playing The Evil Within on October 14th.
Positives and negatives from watching the walkthrough -
+Atmosphere seems great
+Stealth mechanics, crouching and stealth kills
+Burning Bodies reminds me of REmake which is definitely a good thing
+Very limited health and ammo
+Music/sound/Graphics and visuals
+Puzzles
+Blood and Gore
-Widescreen aspect..hate the black bars
-Rubic??? character that appears at times...reminds me of Nemesis from RE3...I really hope that character doesnt appear a lot because that will definitely turn me off
-Loading time is long but what's worse is that it appears you restart at times a way's away from where you died.
Overall, still more positives than negatives. Obviously, have to wait to play the game on October 14th. The Evil Within is my third most wanted game for the rest of 2014 and that video didnt change that either way.Comment

Re: The Evil Within
Lots of details from the October issue of Game Informer.
Game Informer: An Interview With Shinji Mikami
Shinji Mikami's career began at Capcom in 1990. He's known as the father of survival horror today, but his early work suggested a much different title. The first three games that Mikami worked on were all Disney properties: Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Aladdin, and Goof Troop. He was given the chance to create his own intellectual property for the PlayStation in 1996. Mikami and his team introduced players to a mansion infested with zombies in Resident Evil. This genre-defining release paved a bloody road for Mikami's career. In addition to the Resident Evil series, Mikami helped create Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry, Killer 7, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Viewtiful Joe, Vanquish, and God Hand. After departing Capcom, Mikami helped create Shadows of the Damned for Electronic Arts. His latest venture with his new studio Tango Gameworks and publisher Bethesda Softworks is taking him back to his survival horror roots. The Evil Within is his first survival horror game since 2005's smash-hit Resident Evil 4.
In Game Informer's November issue, I played through the first five chapters of The Evil Within, finding it to be as much a new take on survival horror as it is a love letter to Mikami's previous work. I talked to him about the state of survival horror, embracing different types of horror, and a nod to Resident Evil that he's included in The Evil Within.
See how the terrifying sounds of The Evil Within are created in ways you might not necessarily expect in our newest Bethesda Underground video from the offices of Tango Gameworks -- makers of The Evil Within.
