Re: Single Player Campaigns That You Didn't Finish

Like most here my list can be pretty long. Recently though
I stopped on Crysis 3 I'm guessing about a third of the way through. Just didn't like it.
I was on the last level of Tomb Raider and a buddy was around and he finished it for me. Been mean to go back and play it myself.
Xcom- just need time. Great game I will finish.
Somebody else mention Cap America. I liked it and got to the last level. Just moved on to the next shiny thing.

I would say that my completion % is somewhere between 5-10%.

Hell it is the same way with sports games. If there was no online in sports games, most people wouldn't even buy it because they refuse to play the flawed CPU. Look how many online leagues on OS alone for NBA 2K, Madden, NCAA, Tiger Woods, NHL and FIFA.

I know a lot of people who couldn't tell you what the story line is even about for Gears of War series, Halo series, Call of Duty series or Battlefield series because they never played the single player, all they play is online. Servers down for the game, guess what most people do, they take the game out and put in another game to play online.

Let Xbox Live or PSN be down, people wouldn't even turn on their console until they hear the network is back up. Hell just look at these forums as soon as a game comes out that has online play. The 1st question people post on here is how is the online play ? Is there a lot of people playing this game online ? If not I'm not buying this game.
Understand where you're coming from, but most of the games listed are known for their single player not their multiplayer aspect. MP in a lot of games is just a addon so they can say they have MP. Shooters and sports seem to be the place where folks look for MP more than others, though even lately we've seen God of War and Assassin Creed add in a MP aspect whether successfully so remains to be seen. Haven't seen numbers to back up either, but still believe that most folks who play a broad amount of games & genres still llook for Single Player game (generally speaking).

Re: Single Player Campaigns That You Didn't Finish

I finish about 95% of the games that I buy and only a few that I didnt complete which happen to be long RPG games.

            Skyrim
            Kingdoms of Amalur
            LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean
            Killzone Trilogy

I remember playing Killzone 2 & only getting half way then I sold it. I bought the trilogy & I just couldn't get into it. It felt slow & heavy. I blame CoD for ruining it. haha

Ended up in the backlog due to time/new games wise or entirely lost intrest wise?

I'll go with the second because it's a much shorter list.

Max Payne 3 because it was just damn awful. I should probably finish it,I think I'm near the end.
AC III because it didn't feel or play anywhere near as good as the others.

Re: Single Player Campaigns That You Didn't Finish

I finish most of my games.

I got bored with Max Payne 3 and Bioshock 2 and quit on those about 1/2 way in.
Skyrim just haven't had time and kept roaming on side quests. I did finish Oblivion though.

Bigger issue now is I have about 12 games I bought over the past several months and haven't started yet.

I rarely finish games because I get distracted by shiny and new. I also rarely play enough MP to become better than average, which is kind of the equivalent to not finishing SP.

To me this isnt about quality or dev effort but length. There is always a lot of moaning about short campaigns but look at this thread. The majority of respondents have gotten bored and drifted away from a ton of games. I think in a futile quest to weigh in at 25 or 30 hours for one playthru, a lot of games end up very repettitive and lose us. I have learned to only pay full freight for games I know I will play online a lot right away. Everything else I wait for at least the drop to $40.

Really enjoyed Infamous 2 but didn't finish.
                    Loved ME3 but didn't finish.
Didn't finish Gears 2, lost interest, bored.
Couldn't get into the latest AC, sold it back after playing it for just mins. Loved the previous iterations.

                      Far Cry 3
                      Red Dead Redemption

I'm pretty sure their are some more, I just cant remember them.

I just don't have time to play games like I use too, I use to like long single player games, but due to lack of time, Im finding my self liking the shorter/linear/action type games more. It took me two months to beat Tomb Raider, because I don't play every day.
On my few free nights that may seem like a good time to play games, if I am tired, Ill just watch some TV instead, I have to have energy to play video games, I don't force myself to play when Im tired like I use to.

Re: Single Player Campaigns That You Didn't Finish

The bottom line is some ppl just get bored or distracted before they can finish a game, even if the game is really good. I totally understand how it happens because it happens to me often.

My list current gen. I don't buy a ton of games:

Red Dead Redemption (Beautiful open world but stuff was too spaced out and I got bored.)

                        GTA IV Lost and Damned

Killzone 3 (It takes a special FPS to hold my attention since I'm not a big fan of them from the start. This game failed in that respect.)

Uncharted 2 (Ironically this is one of my fav games current gen)

                          Batman Arkham City
                          Uncharted: Golden Abyss
                          Gravity Rush
                          L.A. Noire
                          Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

I am at least 25% complete on all of those games. I really like them all. Problem is my gaming time is very limited and since I prefer sports games, I usually wind up playing The Show or NBA 2K.

Wow, too many to name. Big gaming issue of mine and I trying to break. Basically a game comes out and I enjoy it, then a new shiny game is out and I picked that up, never finishing the previous game. It's an endless cycle. I've done better lately though and I am going back to finish some from the past.
