    Re: Ryse: Son of Rome

I was thinking of trading in UFC for this because it reminds me of when the xbox 360 was new - remember condemned: criminal origins?

It's one of those things where developers get excited about a new console and think outside the box and make a new IP and in some cases new 'feel' for a game. That game was good/bad/hilarious/funky/nasty and crazy all in one - you kill freaked out junkies in a dirty project-style building in the dark and use 2x4's with nails in it to kills them! lol

Ryse looks like the team was excited about a new console and wanted to show it off and make something really intense that you won't forget (like condemned)

So in that sense, I may have just talked myself into buying it

Man I loved Condemned. The Department store level was the scariest level I've played in a game

Ryse: Son of Rome wins SIGGRAPH Award for Best Real-Time Graphics

Ryse: Son of Rome, Crytek’s exhilarating next-gen title, has earned itself a prestigious SIGGRAPH award for Best Real-Time Graphics.

Ryse was released last November for Xbox One, and has impressed players and press around the world with its groundbreaking visuals. During the game’s development there was a special emphasis on realistic characters and immersive story-telling; all of which helped to catch the eye of SIGGRAPH's judging panel and earn Ryse a top spot in their Computer Animation Festival awards.

SIGGRAPH is the leading annual festival on computer graphics and interactive techniques, and is running this year from 10 August, 2014 until 14 August, 2014 in the Vancouver Convention Center, Canada.

Wow! This game looks incredible. Hadn't read anything about it and just assumed it would be a decent launch game. It was fun to be blown away a little bit!

Only on act 3 and I'm playing on centurian level as recommended...This game really is astonishing to look at imo...just wow! I would love to see what this game could be though with a sequel to shore up it's issues. I'd like to see the user punished more for being wrong on button response during executions by possibly getting countered by the a.i. and taking damage when the wrong button is hit. It seems as of now there is no real penalty for being wrong. More varied enemies in both looks and attacks along with more attack options for the user could open this game up even more. I have not touched the co-op gladiator arena yet. Not enough thus far to justify a $60 price at launch but at $19.99 which is the price I got it for it's a steal.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Would love to see a sequel and a few things ironed out. Yeah, I purchased after launch for about $35 bucks.

All you have to do is read the thread, it's a good game, not a masterpiece but a good game. Graphically, very good. A bit repetitive, but it's like $19.99 now, right?

I think Bestbuy has the Legendary version on sale for 24.99 this week. It is a great game IMO just no last appeal after you beat it.

Still some of the best graphics on console. Definitely worth picking up for 25 bucks or less
