Re: Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
You are not alone man. I see all the love the first game gets and the anticipation for the sequel. I just did not enjoy it at all.

JackFrags gameplay and impressions:

Don't really like basic movement options locked behind a XP progression system. I guess it's to ease players into the mechanics better than the original, where some felt overwhelmed. The entire design philosophy changes though and with the move to a more open world, it makes me worried that the game will be padded out with a ton of filler.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
I think there is a time and place for open-world games but I feel they are becoming way to common. Mirrors edge is not one which I want to go that direction. This information is a big bummer to me, I'm still fully on board picking it up but a bit let down.Comment

Re: Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
If the open world allows me to free-flow parkour around various spots in the city and not be like later missions in the original where its stop/start I'll be happy.
I am not liking the moves locked behind a progression system though. There should have been just a rooftop area Faith goes to to practice her running at. Oh well, i'll just have to see what its likeHELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
Just said the same thing in the Uncharted thread. Not every game needs to be an open world. Geeze. Sometimes I want a tight, well crafted, linear story experience.Comment

No Beta impressions yet? Guess not as many are as excited for this one as I am. Plan on giving it some run later this morning.Comment

Re: Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
Im glad this game has fov slider. I raised it all the way up. I suffer from motion sickness on low field of view first person games but was able to play the beta for a lengthy time with the adjustment. Game is fun, made me feel like i was in the matrix running around.Comment

Re: Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
I love the bit that I got to play today. The free running feels so smooth. I'm glad that they didn't change the formula too much. I think the open world will be fine based on what I've seen so far.Comment

Re: Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
This game is getting a lot of flack - I'm hoping it proves everyone wrong and it's excellent. Yes, it's not linear, it's open-world...I'm excited to see what's in-store.Currently playing on PS5 & XBOX SERIES X:

- MLB The Show 24 - PS5
