Re: The Order: 1886
Finished the game today (started it today as well), took me about 6 hours. The only real negative I have is the game was entirely too short, embarrassingly so. I did have some issues with the story, but it wasn't so bad overall. It did do a good job of not just sticking in a bunch of filler, but it still just felt like a prologue rather than a full game.
This is a phenomenal exchange! Nice debate guys. I highly recommend anyone that's finished the game read this.
Here's a really basic question I'm sort of struggling with. Which is odd, considering how much of the more complex narrative arcs make sense to me.
What I don't get:
SpoilerIs the basic reasoning behind The Order/The United India Company/Lord Hastings wanting to not only keep the world filled with Half Breeds, but to also bring them over to America?
And how did they come to exist?
SpoilerThe only part of the order that is knowingly working with The United India Company was Lucan. The order itself protects UIC because it is a national asset, butsince Lucan is dead it's unknown what their involvement will be going forward. Lord Chancellor knew Lucan was a half-breed, but didn't know about Hastings, his plot, or that Lucan was betraying the order.
With werewolves being called half breeds, I wonder if the idea is that they are half vampire. Hastings is a vampire, and I would guess has been running UIC since inception. The current conspiracy of transplanting vampires is said to be because the order is making it hard to operate in London so they were relocating to the new world. That was from one of the phonograph recording IIRC.
In future games I feel like Gallahad will be going after Hastings/UIC, Lord Chancellor will be playing oblivious to keep up appearances and protect his secret, the order will work as normal (defend UIC and the crown's assets, hunt half breeds and rebels), Igraine will be actively hunting Gallahad (she feels he betrayed her and now thinks he killed her brother), Lafayette will be a double agent.Comment

Re: The Order: 1886
Alright, my honest opinion.
I enjoyed the game quite a bit. I do think the lack of replay value/no multi-player is a huge issue, given the length of the campaign. Yes, I am sure you could stretch it out if you really take your time and "soak it all in," but the bottom line is this game is pretty short.
It looks great, I had a lot of fun playing it. 60 dollar value? In my humble opinion? No.
If you can pick it up for 40 bucks or less, I say go for it. Especially if you just get it used and return it within the 7 days (that's still GS policy, right?).
I think this is a game worth owning/playing through once for PS4 owners. I also think they just either ran out of time in development or greatly overestimated their product from a value standpoint.
I am excited to see what further exclusives for PS4, and games in this series, have to offer. It looks really great, no denying that."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Order: 1886
I also just finished The Order 1886 and while short i enjoy my time with it the combat was fun and game looked great and a couple of unique weapons as well. The story was ok had which set up for a sequel which i hope we see. Don't spend $60 on it wait for it to drop to under $40 or wait for it to becoming a playstation plus game.MLB: Chicago Cubs

The Order: 1886
This is by far one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have ever had. I put it up there with Metal Gear and Resident Evil 2 on PSone. I do not care that there is no online and as far as pricing goes the game is extremely original and I appreciate that. I work very hard for my money and had no problem dropping $60. I hope this gets a sequel if not the triology treatment.
Such a great game.

The Last of Us is one of those games that I think extended its play time and value with a simple but innovative multiplayer. I still play TLOU multiplayer with a few of my buds every now and then.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

Re: The Order: 1886
Scooped this up over the weekend when Best Buy had it on sale for $40($32 GCU). Was waiting for a $30 price tag but decided to pull the trigger anyway. Currently on chapter 15 and my feelings are mixed. Graphics are top notch, as is the sound and ambiance the developers created. The actual gameplay is a mixed bag. Sometimes it works really well then other times it just doesn't. Guess I would describe it as adequate. Decently some kinks to be worked out there.
I feel the groundwork for something special is there if we ever see a sequel. And I hope we do see one because the story and world managed to hold my attention. Certainly do not regret buying the thing, even if it's short and a little rough around the edges gameplay wise. Guess I would best describe the game as an experience. One that any PS4 owner should explore at whatever price point they feel is fair.Comment

Re: The Order: 1886
Wonder if the MSRP in the Collector's Edition has been reduced, Amason's got it at $59 and it's not a sale price. Regular verison on sale at $39, others with it for $34.
If you want to buy it anyways and aren't in a rush I'd give it another couple of weeks, probably get it for less if MSRPs are really being adjusted.Comment

The Order: 1886
Thanks for sharing. I'll give it a try, but hearing this is a little disappointing considering this was supposed to be a blockbuster exclusive.Originally posted by J. Re: The Order: 1886
I played through it twice over two weeks and kept my copy. I don't regret my decision or am disappointed in my purchase. It's a fun ride, but one that could have been longer. I'm really hoping they're allowed to make a sequel.
