      Re: The Order: 1886

      1. I seem to remember reading reviews about games where large number of glitches and game-breaking bugs were referenced. Unity was one of them. Even some of the Witcher 3 reviews mentioned stuttering, pop-in, and textural bugs. The Witcher 3 is getting rave reviews despite those bugs. The reviews for The Order, whether fair or not, didn't mention any flawlessly programmed gameplay because they disliked the gameplay.

      2. If you're not playing The Witcher (which you are because you're apparently 50 hours in) its not because of glitches and bugs its because you haven't bought a copy yet. The game was far, far away from a broken launch - and even further away from Unity's launch.

      3. Can we get back on topic? If any sequel to The Order happens it will most likely be on all consoles.

Oh, I suppose. I will eventually buy The Order for something like $10 and enjoy it, I'm sure.

I have not played The Order yet, but concerning the length discussion. One of my favorite games in the last 6 to 8 years was the very short Tomb Raider. I beat it in one day but was worth every penny. I dont feel length plays any factor on value if the quality makes up for it.

Really? Nice. Do they own the game engine that the game was built and developed on? I know the game engine was built from scratch and for PS4.

And this means, there's still hope. Screw it, I like Ready at Dawn but what the hell, give the IP to Naughty Dog or Sony Santa Monica.

                Re: The Order: 1886

Tech is theirs, posted previously I think:

“Since the release of The Order, we have been very hard at work to advance our engine and technology to a place where we can deliver our games on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and one other unannounced platform that you will soon find out about.”

Sams elaborated that this may not mean an end to all partnerships, but that the focus is on IP ownership. In the case of The Order, the developer wanted ownership of the IP but at that time, it wasn’t possible, according to Sams. Weerasuriya added that The Order was the first block in building a new platform, and that it was never written as a “one-off.”

Ready at Dawn would “love to be” part of whatever ends up happening with the franchise, Sams revealed, before changing the subject.

                And from the full interview:

We feel that The Order showcased the fruits of our labor on technology. That was one of the biggest focuses for the team having come from PSP and jumping directly to PS4. The first game was more than anything a launch platform to build upon.
Irvine, California-based Ready at Dawn - known for The Order: 1886 and PSP titles like Daxter and God of War: Ghost of …

Damn. Hopefully, Sony and Ready at Dawn can come together in the future for a sequel. If not, they should at the very least release an expansion/DLC type thing like Wolfenstein: The Old Blood to conclude the story.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony just cut their loses and let RAD loose.

It debuted #1, but after that I can't really find anything.

RAD's CEO said the game was, "well on its way to meeting sales expectations."

Think the #1 debut was on the UK weekly charts (edit: and Ireland, per wikipedia).

In the US, it launched in February, and had just a week of sales:

                              1. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D (3DS) (515,000 copies sold digitally and physically)
                              2. Evolve (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
                              3. Dying Light (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
                              4. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
                              5. Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
                              6. NBA 2K15 (PS4, Xbox One, PS3, 360)
                              7. Dragon Ball: Xenoverse (PS4, Xbox One, PS3, 360)
                              8. Minecraft (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4)
                              9. The Order: 1886 (PS4)
                              10. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (3DS) (290,000 copies sold digitally and physically)

It didn't chart the following month.

I don't think there's any real context to figure out how well it did overseas, just rankings and knowing that the US accounts for more than 1/3 of the install base. Wouldn't be surprised if we were responsible for a disproportionate amount of software sales w/ the improving economy and other marketplace conditions.

600-700k is probably a pretty safe bet, 800-900k on the high side? If it hit a million I'm sure we'd have heard about that.
