Just finished this and man was it a blast!

All the gameplay mechanics felt great to me. Graphics were incredible as everyone knows. And I didn't have any issues with the number of QTEs or cutscenes (although the instadeath QTEs seemed pointless). There were 2 things that really bummed me out though. One being the lycan battles. The QTE heavy battles were fun, just not the common battles. They were just a wait and shoot game, with a dodge thrown in the middle. My other issue involved the liveliness. Throughout pretty much the entire game, it felt as though it was just The Order, the rebels, and the lycans in the world. I wish there were more civilians around.

As far as the story goes, I think it is fantastic. I was completely immersed in the story from start to finish. It was shaken up for me a few times throughout the game, and always seemed believable.

The ending

I was completely thrilled by the ending. From finding out Lucan is a half breed, to learning Lord Hastings is a vampire. I didn't expect either of those things to happen. I know some people were unhappy with the way RAD left us at the end. I am not one of those people. It tied up Galahad's experiences nicely IMO. I think a sequel is necessary to give us all the answers we want. Will The Order find out about Lucan? Will Isi and/or Lafayette in particular forgive/trust Galahad in the future? I just don't think they could've really wrapped it all up without basically doubling the length of the game (I'd be fine with that, but they have their reasons for not doing so.

All in all, I don't believe The Order: 1886 is on the level The Last of Us made it to, but it was the most enjoyable single player experience I've had on my PS4.

I just finished up as well, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this game! I'll come back with my final impression tomorrow (it's late). I stopped counting the playtime, which was silly to be doing IMO, and just enjoyed the game.

I will say this before I sign off... no matter what someone's gripe is with this game, I did not encounter not 1 glitch! That is unheard of these days. So the game is obviously very well made.

Like I said, impressions forthcoming... I'll jump back into this weekend to scoop up the last few trophies too.

I finished the game last night and somehow I missed some of the inspection items and an audio cylinder. I thought I had searched everywhere, but I immediately wanted to play through it again so no foul.

I thought it was a great ride. It feels weird to be complimenting a game simply because it is polished and ready for release, but I didn't encounter any glitches or hiccups at all during my play through. I've read through some of the complaints and I can see how people may not enjoy those parts of the game (stealth, QTEs), but I found the stealth gameplay rather straight forward and quite enjoyed the way the QTE's played out. I think my favorite parts of the gameplay were igniting fools and using the Falchion to shock them and run up and finish them off with a melee. There is a great basis here all it needs is some expanding out and I can see a truly awesome series.

The story, for me, accomplished two tasks. The first being about Galahad and the first arc of his story and the second setting up the necessary elements for the series as a whole. I felt like it answered enough questions while leaving some to be answered over the course of the series. I don't think its a fault to this game or any story that does that. Some stories discover plot-lines that aren't resolved until further in the over all story. That tactic doesn't hinder or negatively affect those types of stories to me, but I've been engrossed in A Song of Fire and Ice over the past two months so perhaps I'm biased.

I saw somewhere that a developer said that The Order 1886 laid the foundation for their franchise going forward. They have the graphics engine now just need to do new stories so sequels won't take as long to pump out going forward. Which means I'd almost expect the sequel maybe end of 2016 to mid 2017.

how they handled Isi? She seemed like a pretty important character that has maybe 1 line in the last half of the game. Were you satisfied with what the story did with her?

I thought she was handled well. There is clearly a history with her and Galahad. While an intimate relationship seems to be off the table currently they have obviously broached the subject in the past yet still maintain a hospitable, sarcastically flirtatious relationship. Galahad seems to be the one who put an end to things while Igraine obviously still wanted to pursue that avenue.

As for the last half of the game I felt like she felt betrayed by Galahad not only as a friend, but also as a member of the Order. She witnessed Galahad running off with Lady Lakshmi and helping the Rebels fight against allies of the Order. Combined with the testimony of Lucan and Galahad withholding information from her (for her protection) she has little choice, but to pursue Galahad as a traitor. I actually thought they did a great job of setting her up to be the main antagonist for the future.

In the future I would like to follow her character as she uncovers evidence and is forced to reconcile her family, The Order, and Galahad.

Why Galahad wouldn't expose what was going on with Hastings instead of killing Lucen and walking away? How does that serve his character? What does it say about him as a character? Why isn't the big plot to infect large cities in the US more important than protecting The Order?

What is his evidence apart from testimony from Rebel accomplices? Lucan already set him up to take the fall once he brought the group to Lord Hastings. Do you think Lucan would simply come clean and reveal to the Order that he is a Lycan? Or that the Lord Chancellor would let his son bring down his family simultaneously with the Order? What better way then to make his son a martyr for the framing of Sir Galahad letting the Order remain on the hunt for the wrong enemy.

As for what it says about his character Galahad clearly had the best interest of The Order at heart. I would not be surprised if this series ended with him becoming Lord Chancellor. He took off all identifying elements when he ran off with Lady Lakshmi so as not to implicate The Order's involvement. He has fragments of a evidence of a larger conspiracy and has really nothing to present to The Order other than allegations. He is loyal and honor bound to a fault. He would rather shoulder the blame than to bury his Order and friends under allegations he can't backup fully quite yet.

I can't answer for how you feel about them nor will I try to persuade you. Once I understood the mechanic of the timing I went through the garden section fairly easily. It may have been presented differently, but I felt on the whole it was very similar to how Uncharted handled its stealth takedowns. I would like to see more variations on the gameplay in the future and more open environments. I'm not sure a Batman Arkham stealth approach is necessary as someone else suggested earlier, but more open environments and variations to the enemy types would make things more interesting than what they were. I would also welcome multiple takedowns and a melee system that is more involved.

The gunplay for the Lycan encounters weren't as impressive as the rest of the gunplay segments. I enjoyed the finishers, but I would have enjoyed being to able to use a pistol and knife more. The way they were set-up was OK, but its something I hope they change for the next game. On the other hand I actually did really enjoy the two "QTE" Lycan encounters. I would like to see those expanded to include more strategy and variation, but I felt these boss fights were more engaging than some other games.

The aspect ratio never hindered me so I can't really comment. I loved the cover system and its implementation. Firefights would have been more interesting with more destructible cover, however.

See I thought Isi and Lafayette were the best characters in the game, so I was very disappointed to see them pushed aside in favor of Lucen, a character that the writing never really established as having much importance. I said in another spoiler tag that they should have switched Lucen and Perceval's roles when it comes to that part of the story. They could have killed off Lucen at the airship, which would have then given Isi much more motivation (instead, she comes off as a sort of jilted lover) and having Perceval be the traitor would have given Galahad much more conflict when it came to whether or not to reveal the conspiracy. As it stood, it felt empty to me because we are never shown a connection between Galahad and Lucen. I didn't sense any real sadness on Galahad's part nor did I feel any myself, because Lucen was just this dude. He was far more important to Isi than he was to Galahad.

Also, who the hell was the old man Perceval was meeting with? Was it the rebel leader in disguise? Did Perceval know what was going on? Why was that just swept aside after he died? To me, a good ending to the game would have at least referenced that. I can't assume what is going to be in a sequel or DLC that hasn't been announced yet, so I can only accept the story for what it is. These things are issues IMO.

Igraine was a very strong character, but Lafayette only played a minor role in most of the game. I think they set him up to be Galahad's informant on the Order for the rest of the series. He was very likable and performed very well, but he didn't show as much as Perceval or Igraine.

I didn't feel like they were pushed aside for Lucan. Galahad, as was his flaw, was honor bound to protect his friends while relaying information to the ranking Knight Lucan. Lucan was more of a fall guy and martyr more than anything and I never felt he was the focus of the last portion of the story. The connection between him and Galahad is certainly testy before these events happen, but its still Galahad rooting out and putting down a fellow brother. They may have not been as close as Lafayette or Igraine, but there's certainly a connection to be felt.

I disagree with your changes to the story. Perceval's death is the catalyst that propels Galahad to defy the Lord Chancellor, strike an uneasy alliance with Lady Lakshmi, and go on a hunt to discover the plot of a conspiracy that Perceval seemed to be just uncovering himself. Galahad wanted to clear his mentor's name out of loyalty. If Lucan dies then we're left to build up Perceval as a traitor and co-conspirator. Certainly an interesting angle, but then that would have been the same thing as playing from Igraine's POV the rest of the game.

The "shadowy figure" remains a mystery, but I feel like he'll just lead Galahad to more co-conspirators and perhaps a make-shift Order off-shoot. I didn't think him remaining a mystery was detrimental to the story in this game.

Lafayette was my favorite supporting character by far, I liked Igraine but for the last act or so of the game she was just stomping around like an upset Ms. Piggy to me. I'm on my 2nd marriage to a redhead, so perhaps she just reminded me of an ex .

With the push in all forms of media for empowered women in leading roles I wouldn't be surprised to see her get her own game or DLC at some point should the franchise grow and continue to be successful (though I could see the rebel leaders getting one being just as likely).

Since apparently Galahad is going to stick around London for a bit it would be interesting to play as Lady Lakshmi in India.

It would also be interesting to play as Igraine (depending on how many interactions you have with Galahad) as she works to trace a traitor and discover the conspiracy for herself.

Platinum for me as well. Great game. Wish there was more to play on it, I wanted more. Hope Ready at Dawn get enough sales for a sequel. I kind of feel bad listed the game on ebay since the devs won't see any of that money, but that's the way it works. If there was DLC I'd hang onto the game longer.
