I'm thinking you didn't enjoy this game - hard to tell based off your posts in this thread...

Indefensible for a DLC/sequel setup? Are you new to gaming? Have you watched any movies in your lifetime?

    Is this real life?

      Re: The Order: 1886

I'm in the middle of chapter 4 (which has taken me 3 hours, so I'd guess a complete play through will take me 10+ hours, minimum).

It's like RAD interviewed me and customized a game to my exact tastes! I'm so in love with what I'm seeing.

The story is remarkable up to this point, and I just absolutely adore games that let you breathe!

The whole game reminds me of that feeling I had when playing the opening section to TLOU. I understand how some people could feel like that might be boring but it's absolutely perfect to me.

Coming off DAI/Mordor/ACU/Dying Light, a tight experience like this is exactly what the doctor ordered.

While I completely agree with you, for those of us enamored with The Order right now, let's all just agree what an absolute tragedy it would be if this game flops financially and the unfinished plot threads go unresolved.

Shows that I love getting canceled always bums me out. If the game continues to knock it out of the park for me, I'll feel the same way about it here.

Honestly, a new IP not giving us a relatively self-contained story is pretty risky, don't you think?

Have you? Again, it's one thing to set up for a possible sequel. Many stories are used as a setup for something else. But to not tell a self-contained story makes it a bad story. To go back to Star Wars since it's a pretty masterfully-done trilogy, Empire has to build off of ANH and lead into Jedi. It was designed that way. But it's still a self-contained story with a definable character arc for all the main characters.

The Order took the most interesting part of its story
            Spoiler

and discarded it to instead tell a story
            Spoiler

If you still like the game despite the flaws in its narrative then fine, that's certainly your right, but to act like there isn't an issue here or, worse, to insinuate that this is par for the course with storytelling, is quite deluded on your part.

The first 4 chapters are really good. The quality slips through the middle and craters in the last 90 minutes or so.

Listen, we are ALL entitled to our opinion (obviously you didn't like it, that's cool) but instead of constantly coming in here and repeating how disappointed you were, why not move on?

Seems like a bunch in here are enjoying their experience with the game - let them continue that discussion without you derailing it each time.

I didn't post in here until I finished it, yesterday afternoon. I think I've made less than 10 posts in the thread, each one directly responding to another post (including yours) and attempting to discuss the game in detail without insulting anyone.

If these threads are only supposed to be positive, then I guess I misunderstood what their purpose is.

Not sure how steering the thread towards whether or not people should post in it makes it a better one, but rather ensures multiple pages of stupid. It's nice to have other posters stand up to the sheer word count of some of the others protestations and infallibility of the game. If I disagree with someone I engage them or move on, little else is productive or goes anywhere.

I don't have much of a problem w/ the story through chapter 9 (though recent replies seem to indicate I'm basically playing 3 quarters of a football game that I might never know the outcome of, we'll see), I'm more grumpy about finally getting my hands on a thermite rifle again and then it disappearing due to the sniper segment. I'm not as grumpy as Galahad though... who at this point could be photoshopped onto a 'Payback' movie poster or perhaps a 'u mad' meme after the events of chapters 6-8.

                    Should wrap it up tonight.

FYI Best Buy trade-in already down to $32, but currently running a +30% trade-in promotion that brings it up to $41 and change.

Really cool little thing about the Thermite Rifle I discovered accidentally: if you fire a flare and it sort of sticks to a wall or there's still fire nearby, you can shoot more thermite and reignite the whole thing. There's a firefight (no pun intended) a little later on from where you are where this came in handy bigtime.

Better than GameStop. They are already down to 21 if you want cash.

Constantly bashing the story mode and telling people they're wrong to think the story is good isn't exactly constructive criticism. You didn't really discuss the game in detail, you just told me I was wrong to think the ending was good and that no other game has ever used DLC to expand on the story. If you don't like game companies that use DLC or future titles to expand on the story, then you won't be buying many games.

Also, comparing a video game to a movie or tv show is such a terrible comparison. TV shows hardly EVER tell a story in one episode or even a season. There are always questions, that's what keeps people interested.

Positive criticism I can handle, but complaining just to try rattle people's cages is childish and annoying on these forums. Trade the game in and don't buy the next title if one comes out.

I'm not trying to rattle anyone's cages. I've gone to great lengths to explain in detail my problems with both the story and the gameplay, but nobody has really tried to argue the other side of it.

I've explained why I think it's bad. How about you explain why you think it's good. Let's...discuss it.

Grey has been awesome so far and fallen in line with Perceval's way of thinking except going about things with no ****s left to give.

I agree about the thermite rifle. The same thing happened to me with that sniper. I have really enjoyed the arc rifle in my limited time with it, too. It was particularly enjoying on the bridge along with the 3-barrel shotgun or as I like to call it - Limb Taker.
