I wish I had a ps4 or a PC that can handle it just for this game I love studying about WWII so this game would be the perfect fit for me.

It's a lot of fun, even though in it's current state it plays very arcadish. Right now it is taking up all of my PS4 time. I started Tomb Raider last week and got about a third of the way through it and really enjoyed it. But I haven't been back to it because I am addicted to War Thunder.

After the battle is ask to use those lion heads and such to buy upgrades. I also had 4 of these star points to put on as well. I guess I just don't understand everything about it. I go to research and see a list but have no clue what any of it means.

Btw had my best match so far. Took down 2 pilots that were in the wrong place at the wrong time and destroyed 6 ground vehicles. Died once. I tend to go for the ground units and only go after aircraft if the happen to get in front of me.

Good strategy. The lion heads you save up to to buy more planes (or slots for more planes to put into a battle). Research points are used for researching plane upgrades and new planes. After each battle, if successful, you usually are asked what part of the plane you want to research (improve) next. Usually this consists of upgrades to the engine, the plane structure or weapons and ammo. Pick which you think is best,

Also, each plane on each mission earns crew points, depending on how well it did on the mission. Be sure to spend those according. You can google war thunder crew points to see what each does, but for fighters concentrate on pilot vitality, vision and visibility, at least at first.

Hope this helps, let me know if I can be of more assistance.

Same here Quint...I'm addicted to the game. Held off on purchasing Tomb Raider to a later date, and got Outlast, Starve, and NBA2K on hold.

You can customize your planes with decals back at the hanger. Here on the F2A-1 Buffalo, with enough points I put the familiar "Piccadilly Lilly" emblem on both sides of the plane. Oh, also have the swans on both sides of the tail.

Nice! I have yet to decorate any planes. Better get going!

I believe they're available once you accomplish certain feats so they're originals. Such as "Lucky Lady". This decal is accomplished once you get 300 ground units destroyed which I just picked up. There are premium decals to unlock but I'm not sure if they can be created, what they are, or how to obtain them yet.

Here is a battle called the "Cliffed Coast". Found some enemy PT boats that you can destroy. Got to learn how to work on video quality.

Need an OS squadron of 12-14 players!!!!!!!! Need recruits!!!!!!!

I grabbed this yesterday and I'm pretty overwhelmed right now, it seems like the current 1000 or so player have been playing awhile. The only thing I've been able to do is kill ground targets.

You keep playing, you will improve. I felt the same way you did.

At least when you first start playing you will be put on beginner levels with your beginner planes. The enemies may be seasoned flyers, but their planes can only be so good. Once you get better planes, you move on to harder battle fields.

A few things to always remember.

                              1) Dont kill off your energy. This means avoid hard turns, steep climbs (for the most part, they can help in a specific case). The more energy you bleed, the harder it is for you to out maneuver the plane tailing you.

                              2) Altitude is your friend. This correlates with energy since when you're diving on someone, you have more speed to climb back out and over the enemy. This tactic is called "boom and zoom". Altitude will allow you to pick your target, one that you know you can take out easily without putting yourself into a hornet's nest. You'll notice out of the starting area, alot of people still hang out on the deck instead of getting altitude to disengage. This means they're prime for a quick dive as they're more than likely not at optimal speeds. Some aircraft will have upgraded/stronger engines so there's that variable

                              3) Dont unload your entire plane of ammunition onto an enemy. A few peps will go a long way in you're not wasting rounds falling either long or short of your target. Along with this, you can/should alter your zeroing of your guns as some people prefer to be closer or further from the target.

                              4) Use the sun to your advantage. A guy wont be able to face the sun and pick you out during a head-on exchange while you have the sun to your back, you have no problem seeing him. Same can be used for climbs to get away from someone.

                              5) Practice. There are a few simulator forums/websites that have either videos or gif's showing how to perform certain maneuvers.

I grew up playing a lot of IL-2 1942 on the PC with flight stick, head tracking, and rudders. You pretty much nailed what most don't understand about flight combat sims. Now with exceptions certain planes are not designed for these practices. A good example of this would be the nimble zero. terrible dive speed due to wings literally sherring off so you want to bait enemy into a turn contest because that is where the strengths lie for the Zero. Where the Hell cat is a heavy beast of a plane and its entire strengths lie in the boom in zoom. Get high, dive on enemy, hit and get away, do a big circle tracking your prey and repeat.
