    Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

I have been wanting a game like SKYRIM on next-gen sooo bad...I want the developers to follow-p and create a SKYRIM 2... (not the online stuff)

It looks like this game may be the closest I have to it...

...but I'm still awaiting a sequel to SKYRIM on next-gen. Pleeeeease.
Currently playing on PS5 & XBOX SERIES X:

I've got this game preOrdered but I've bought so many bad LotR games now I'm questioning my decision. Game looks good, but so did the others. Think the last LotR game I enjoyed was the Battle for Middle Earth RTS games. (didn't play the MMO)

Before I start clicking away on the items above and googling can anyone advise if there's a good preview that shows some lengthy/uncut gameplay?

This is the best link I have found previewing gameplay and features. Watching convinced me to get this game at the end of the month

I'm really not sure about this game at the moment myself. If I have to decide between this or Assassin's Creed Rogue I'm not sure what I would do. Could go with Dragon Age instead as well. Early reviews and impressions will matter a lot. The videos aren't really doing it for me. It could be fun but I see nothing special here.

While the PS4 and XBox One versions were bumped up to September 30th, the PS3 and 360 versions have been delayed to November 18th.

Warner Bros. continues to juggle the release of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, pushing Xbox 360 and PS3 to November 18 in the Americas and 21 in Europe.

                This one's good:

At times it looked great, comparable to Batman Arkham series, but other times it looked like a badly implemented button masher like other LotR games before it. Hope they tighten that up better before release, but saw enough to tilt me to wanting the game and keeping the preorder live.

If anyone is a GCU member at Best Buy, you can pre-order Mordor, get a $10 reward certificate and 20% off the $60 price. At checkout, it would cost $48 plus tax. You get the 500 points ($10) added to your account within 15 days.

Since im a GCU member, this is what im doing with Mordor. If I don't like the game or can't get into it, I'll just trade it in and use that credit towards The Evil Within.

I want to play Mordor but every video looks like you're doing exactly the same thing over and over. Like it's nothing more than a repetitive hack and slash game. I hope that there's a lot more depth to it and that there's different areas in the game as it looks like you're in the same area for the entire game.

Have to wait and see how it is once I play the game.

The quests did look a bit repetitive, but watch the videos the guys posted for me to see some quality fighting. When riding and fighting early on it looks like a badly implemented button masher with odd hit detection and few mechanics, but when in a big battle with many enemies it looked like it performed much like the fighting in Batman Arkham series (which is a VERY good thing). Leaves me torn, confused, and yet slightly optimistic.

The rune system looks pretty cool and learning your enemies strengths and weaknesses and then focusing in on the weaknesses is a nice strategic element which we don't see often in RPG's these days where all powers / counters have been pretty well leveled out in order to appeal to a wide/generalized audience.

                        Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Anyone that preordered the PS4 game from Amazon want to trade the preorder bonus for the Best Buy one? I preordered from Best Buy because I have a lot of reward dollars there.

                        Anyway, the amazon is:
The Deadly Archer Rune: Deal extra damage when executing ranged headshots against Sauron's Captains.

The Best Buy one is the
Flame of Anur Rune: Ignite your blade by achieving a high combo count and incinerate your enemies. Glow orange at high hit counter. Critical hits have chance to ignite enemies.

I think amazon also has an additional code that is a skin and challenge mode called The Dark Ranger, I don't care about that one. Anyone interested, PS4 version?

Uh oh bad sign. No review codes given to reviewers until after release. I think I will push this one aside and get once it goes on sale if the reviews are decent.

just for the PC version, so hopefully it isn't a bad sign for the consoles.
