Re: No Man's Sky
I have no problems with any media breaking the embargo. The embargo is only there to benefit publishers and developers, and the media is attempting to inform consumers without an agenda (usually). It's certainly in the the pubs/devs interest to restrict access and embargo reviews, but it's of no benefit to consumers and potential consumers to know less about the thing they're going to buy.
I do understand that Sean and HG have worked very hard, and have been thrust into such a limelight that expectations of them are daunting, to say the least. I think a lot of the last week or so could have been handled a lot better wirh just some simple communication and transparency. Sean and/or HG probably should have sent out a full press release explaining that they shipped the game with numerous bugs and without the first patch people will not get an accurate represented of the final product. Sending out review copies on Monday, then having embargo lift on same day, seems pretty clear they didn't want full reviews up on launch night and I get it but it would have seemed a lot less "shady" if they had just openly addressed it a week ago.
I also don't buy the reason for the PC delay. So they needed 3 days to get the PC version up to snuff? Is it feasible for a game breaking issue to only need 3 extra days to fix? To me this just screams that Sony paid for a small timed exclusivity and Sean probably should have addressed this before Friday night prior to release. I feel like I've been cool about it, for the most part, and haven't gotten bent out of shape but for people who have been counting down the hours for the past two years, and who also took time off from work for his, I can understand some disappointment. I also understand the flip side and realize HG is dealing with a fanbase that contain sects of legit fanatical people who resort to death threats and harassment anytime something doesn't go their way, so maybe it's hard for him to be as open as they should be.
Hey man, all negativity aside, I will still have my man cave ready for release, just gotta keep the Arnold Palmer and pizza on ice for a couple more days. Jerky and sour patch kids will hold up just fine until then
As for this game vs The Order, I can't think of a more different game to compare NMS too, Order is as linear as games get and the openness of a game like NMS, alone, is enough for a lot of people to play for a long time. A lot of people love sandbox games regardless of their theme or actual content, the freedom itself warrants a purchase for those people. I do feel like this game probably shouldn't cost 60 bucks but I understand why it does. They could sell it for 100 and it would still do big numbers, probably,Last edited by The JareBear; 08-06-2016, 03:38 AM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

"I'm here tonight adding support for 21:9 monitors. We don't even have one. I've stuck some cardboard to the side of mine ¯\_(シ)_/¯"
Never mind how preposterous that is, cheapest 21:9 monitor is 150 pounds on amazon.co.uk I guess it was supposed to be a joke?
I don't think Sony paid for 2 days of exclusivity, that's silly, and any time they have paid for exclusivity they always marketed it as "play it first on" which they didn't do. I'm guessing they did all of their work on PS4 because it was a hard date they couldn't change, and not until they knew how soon they might get everything ported to PC did they officially set the date, that's why they didn't announce it until so late. If they were still working on the PS4 patch now, they would have probably announced an even later date for PC.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Embargoes should be adhered to but only apply to review copies handed out by the developer. I know some websites have gone out of their way to find early copies and paid for them. Embargoes don't apply to those copies so they can write and release reviews whenever.Comment

Post on Reddit suggest that it's confirmed that the patch drops on Monday and that when they reset everything the save files won't carry over

Re: No Man's Sky
I think I'm going to end up waiting for reviews. As much as I'm intrigued and think I'm ready to play my biggest fear has been mentioned (planets basically the same just different colors).
Secondly, all of the outside shenanigans from reddit copy I have no clue about and now developer seeming a bit defensive that people are playing the game/reviewing early just seems shady and makes me question whether this is a $60 game and if the developer is even sure this is a $60 game. Too much hoopla about early copies and "spoiling the game" which I relate more to the game may have been overhyped and can be spoiled easily by early copies/reviews.
What a roller coaster from the first announcement and being 100% in to other shenanigans and questioning to now going 100% in last night to be brought back down today.
I do hope it's a great game though and reviews state as much early so I can take the plunge sooner than later, but I think I've at least talked/read myself out of buying the game blind

Re: No Man's Sky
I'm curious to see what the review scores are only because I can see this getting a 9 from IGN but a 5 from GameSpot."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. 3 more days till we launch into a mysterious galaxy where everything and anything awaits us.
"I am one of the last remaining survivors from my home planet. We were overcome with a deadly virus that wiped out almost the entire population including my wife and children. With nothing left I set out on a journey to seek new worlds and start another life. Currently with only my small Alpha Vector Ship with limited technology and cargo space, my first goals are to discover new resources on other worlds to further develop my ship and trusty multi tool. Along they way I expect to meet new races and also run into some hostiles. Trust no one, and stay frosty".

I could play The Order forever too. It doesn't mean that it isn't repetitive and simple like this game has turned out to look.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”
