Re: No Man's Sky
All they will have to do is sync back again when the server is reset, no? It's not like they depend on a server to store progress like an MMO, everything they have discovered they still have as a discovery in their game. This just feels petty and vengeful.Comment

Don't most games do this though? Like FPS'Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Are you going through steam or getting hooked up directly?
I'm hoping my steam date of the 9th holds up but in case it doesn't I definitely would love for some PC version impressions and footage.
Apparently when Sean went on Colbert's show it was the PC version he played and people say the draw distance was great and pop in non existent but who knows for sure.

No Man's Sky
For betas. Not for released games that people got early. This is just ridiculous. These people purchased their game. If they want to be bitter, place blame at the stores.
I have a hard time supporting a developer that does petty crap like this.Comment

Ah okay. Hmm. Not really sure how I feel about it. I guess if I had an early copy I would probably be pissed.Comment

This guy. That's what happens when you don't control your message. You could have sent out review copies, and put out an embargo. Instead you did nothing and are passively complaining.
People get physical copies early for every game. It's going to happen.Comment

This whole attitude towards leaked copies irritates me, if you didn't want people playing it early, make it digital only. Problem solved.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Almost every FPS has done this before. I don't have an issue with it. But I do think they should have just kept the servers off. Since the game works offline just can't custom name stuff. Do like Destiny, sports games with ultimate team, etc have done that way there's no headaches or upset customers.

I agree. I think have the servers offline would make more sense. Allowing paying customers to make progress and then taking it away isn't a great idea.
I can't recall an FPS doing this for people that got a game early. It would make more sense since there would be an advantage.Comment

They are a small studio that's likely more individually protective of their hard work.
They probably also know what Sony is expecting of them and don't want to lose sales. It's a tough position for them."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Almost positive a COD did it back during last gen. Don't quote me though.
I also wonder if it has something to do with that patch which is supposed to really fix things up. Maybe it needed or they had expected to be able to wipe the servers to apply it. Who knows.
This does have rookie developer written all over it though.
