Re: Fallout 4
I feel like a spot you can fast travel from is usually not too far away once I'm finished up with an area. Maybe that changes though later on. Not sure if you are further than me or not.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
I see no difference in approach to story and role playing in this game compared to any other Bethesda game since morrowind.
This is the exact same formula they've always used. Generic opening story that you can follow or choose not to, and plenty of ways to build your guy. I'm not seeing how that's changed.
If anything that would be my gripe.
The formula, framework, or whatever you want to call it may be similar, but within lies a game with less agency given to the player than what's come before.
Role playing is absolutely more limiting with the voiced protagonist and how the dialogue system works in Fallout 4. One example would be it's difficult to really be a dick and having it actually acknowledged, or given some contextual meaning and quests that feed into your behavior. Bethesda's previous games offered this.
Contrast with the ways you can respond to Butch during your birthday party in the opening of Fallout 3.
That's just one conversation, and I'm 70 hours into Fallout 4 and haven't come across a single one that offers even that much depth or branches to any significant degree. Also, skills opening up more speech options further facilitated role playing opportunities. Charisma checks seem to be RNG based now. With the route they took, they should've at least looked at Alpha Protocol. It's not perfect, but it's way better executed than what we got.
It's not just the dialogue system, but quests themselves feature less variances, even minor ones that still ultimately lead to same outcome in their previous games, did a much better job with the "illusion of choice".
I hate to continue to harp on this because I do enjoy the game otherwise.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Fallout 4
I wouldn't call that conversation depth. They cut down the vapid conversation choices dramatically. Probably has something to do with the character being voiced, or a majority of those choices from Fo3 being pointless. I honestly have no problem not having an option to spit on someone's sweet roll.
As far as mission variance, I agree and disagree. From my play through the side stories have more differences in endings than the main ones.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
How is everyone going about connecting their settlements? I hope I'm doing it right. I've been dumping supplies into Sanctuary and connecting everyone to that.#LFC

Re: Fallout 4
I did mine in a circle originally. Now I'm just connecting new ones to the closest one to them. Seems to be working fine. Im unable to send any more supply lines to Santuary. I guess it has something to do with the settlement capComment

Re: Fallout 4
How does connecting settlements work? If I connect a guy from sanctuary to another place, does he count as a resident in sanctuary or the connected settlement or both?Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Im honestly not totally sure. I'm pretty sure they definitely count for the settlement they start from but like i said I can no longer send a line to sanctuary. So maybe they count against both?Comment

Re: Fallout 4
I saw a pic on the net that had every settlement connected to Sanctuary, so I'm not sure how they could have done that if they all count against it. I duno, man. It's just another thing that confuses me about this game. Lol!#LFC
