Was thinking about picking up the strategy guide for this game but am not sure if I should.

Re: Fallout 4
This was me completely. I couldn't play anything. I got about half way through Metal Gear Solid V and then just said, "meh." I've played Fallout 4 for about an hour or two... and all I've done is create my characters. I'm getting ready to log some serious hours in about thirty minutes.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
I'm going to go with a melee character, specifically baseball bats. You know, Fenway Park and all of that.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
I can confirm that the name "Grant" is in the game. Good for me.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Walking around knocking raiders heads off is the only way to play. But having the option of making a spy is also intriguing. Might make an Ex-Spy Baseball player.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Do it...that's all I have to say. When playing 3 I can't count how many times I went on the wiki for that game. Whether it be looking for a certain waypoint in a mission or something else. I recommend spending the money and picking it up.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
The only thing is I know it's going to have spoilers in it and I want to play the game without knowing everything. But if I get stuck and use the strategy guide I may come across other spoilers that I wasn't looking for.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
The last guide I bought was for Skyrim. Not buying one ever again. Games are so large and varied and patched. There's no way a guide team can include everything. I found so many inconsistencies and incomplete info. The Web is just 1000x better. It's quicker and to the point. There were a lot of things I'd have to look up online anyway the guide didn't even touch upon.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Fallout 4
Initial non-spoiler impressions...
But let me first say that I'm not far enough in to really give detailed impressions. I explore everything, look in every cabinet, read everything, etc. It took me much longer to get out of the vault than it will take most of you guys. With that being said...
It's Fallout. If you liked Fallout 3 it obviously has a familiar feel. The graphics, as we've seen, will no knock your socks off. I'm sure there will be (and already has been) complaining about how the game looks. It doesn't bother me too much.
Building a settlement seems very overwhelming (in a good way). It seems that there's a million things you can do and there probably is. I'm sure over time we'll all be experts on the matter.
A lot of people (including myself) are upset that when you holster a weapon it just disappears. Not a huge deal and I'd be willing to bet it gets a) modded in or b) patched in. Strange that this would not be included but a lot of people think it's because there are varied body sizes and layered armor so there would probably be a issue with clipping.
I really enjoyed the opening scene and I feel like the voiced character is a nice touch. NPCs seem more animated when you talk to them and more lively.
The weapon mods are like the settlements... soooo many things to do. Which is awesome.
Overall so far it's pretty much what I expected. I'm sure I'll be playing this game for a long, long time.
If you have any particular questions that I can answer feel free to ask me.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Additional thoughts...
The interactions and dialogue with NPCs is light years ahead of Fallout 3. I love the voiced protagonist. Characters are believable and more real.
Gun combat is much closer to a first-person shooter.
Power armor is fun and makes you feel over-powered (in a good way) against raiders. Parts of your power armor can get blasted off.
When you turn your Pip-Boy light on (on Playstation 4) a green light emits from the controller.Comment
