Sorry.. didn't mean to come off like it did.
was just trying to say it takes a while to get going (and ammo at least for me is always the gold in the game so I treat it like so.. lol )

Hopefully I get into the crafting stuff tonight as I just basically finished the first "search with Robot" thing..

I am not going to be one who runs into a mob guns a blazing. I want to become an explosives maven, setting mine and bomb traps and killing with deadly precision from afar.

V.A.T.S. is going to be my friend.

Perks I want for sure are:

      Gunslinger
      Sneak
      Ninja
      Mister Sandman
      Action Boy
      Bloody Mess
      Better Criticals
      Lone Wanderer
      Demolition Expert
      Awareness
      Locksmith
      Night Person
      Sniper

This is going to be awesome. I think physically I will design a gray long haired hardened cowboy type. Scruffy, scarred and tanned skin. Basically a Clint Eastwood "Unforgiven" build.

Not going to say you are playing it wrong, but everyone should put perk points into Mysterious Stranger. Best perk in the Fallout series.

They, like most people on the internet, are exaggerating.

It feels very Fallout. It is an RPG in the sense you make your character, set your attributes, add points to your character with every level, craft, build, talk to people.

It's definitely more RPG than FPS, and anyone who claims otherwise probably was looking for reasons to hate the game anyways.

Hell, If it was just an FPS I wouldn't have put 3 hours each into 3 different characters to find out which build I like best. Or 1 hour or more of each of those characters building a settlement and just exploring.

The difference too is VATS....that helps you conserve ammo IMO (and for me it's the fun way I like to play). If you're just FPS shooting you'll go through a lot more ammo vs. VATS.

I enjoy the perks and strategy that comes along with VATS

I'm screwed I think. At a part in the story where these guys are just overpowering me and I have nothing on me as far as health and throwing items go. Just crappy guns. Frustrating.

I agree that people are over the top with their initial impressions. I disagree on the other point though, in many ways Fallout 4 is lacking soul.

So to be clear, instead of just transferring items to my workshop inventory, I should dump it all out on the ground and individually scrap them while in the settlement building mode to breakdown components?

Also, am I able to transfer items from Red Rocket to my sanctuary workshop inventory?

Started back up earlier and wanted to go explore some but ended up scrapping and building things at the Sanctuary. One thing I don't like is that when trying to build a fence I can't have another fence connect left or right of the fence I just put down. I can only have it go in a straight line.

I think you need to get a perk that allows you to do supply lines (got this from reading an article on scrapping)...someone here can hopefully confirm.

I've read this as well, supply lines connect workbench inventories or something.

I think its the leader perk under the charisma line. I have a 9 or 10 charisma but need to be level 14 i think to get to the level needed to build traders and supply lines.

Do what I do, take everything to one of you outposts (I chose Sanctuary) and break down everything there. This keeps all you mats there as well. Whenever you need to build stuff in another outpost just go and take wjat you need from your main one. Much easier than going to multiple outposts looking for what you need.

I know when mods are finally availiable im looking for a combined workbench one tl where you can access your mats from any workbench and a mod that lets me break junk down either from my invebtory or at a work bench. So annoying having to drop everytgibg then dismantle it.
