I saw that, too. If he's legit, it's going to be extremely disappointing. The glimmer of hope is that he works for Kotaku and I think they've been blacklisted by Bethesda, so there is a possibility that he's just throwing shade. Guess we'll find out on the 10th. I'm keeping my hopes low to be on the safe side.

      Hey, fantastic!

Expounding on my previous points, based on new information, this most certainly is not a full-scale Fallout game. According to a leak from last December, this will be a Fallout-themed "Rust" clone.

I've never played Rust, but apparently it is a basic survival game. Seems similar to The Forest, which I have played, perhaps minus the weird cannibals.

Of course I have no idea if that is an accurate leak. It doesn't seem too far genre-wise away from the Fallout tenements, though. If that's not the answer, I'd have to guess it would be some kind of Vault management game, maybe a multiplayer experience where everyone lives together in a community.

When Bethesda announced Fallout 76 with a teaser trailer this morning, promising more information at E3, it was easy to assume that the new game would be

Same guy but a tad more info. At least we now know he is talking to people close to the game.

Probably not a popular opinion here, and certainly would not be my first choice or what I'd expect out of the "next" Fallout game (Fallout 5 or not whatever it may be titled), but a Fallout-Rust clone actually sounds pretty badass.

In the comments he also said that it was compared to Ark as well (someone asked) so that could be cool. It's better than just online Fallout like Destiny or The Division, or something like Overwatch or Fortnite. Rust/Ark/DayZ let you play solo in that shared world, so that could be fun.

Agreed. I'd definitely hate to see it go the ESO route, which isn't a bad game (I've actually started playing again recently). It's still early obviously but it sounds like it's definitely not and won't be any type of MMO which is good.

My buddies and I have always drooled over the thought of running around questing and experiencing the Fallout world together.

Add in survival and PvP elements and you have some real potential for a great game. Hopefully that'd be optional for those who want a co-op only experience, which is just as welcomed IMO.

Exactly...I can't imagine myself playing the ESO type game, but this at least has more potential. Sure, I'd prefer Fallout 5, but we obviously can't get that this soon.

I was really excited for a potential Appalachian setting, but if it is that setting and not another singleplayer game I will be a bit disappointed.

I just want a story I can beat that has many options and choices involved that impact the game and a nice world to explore. If it isn't that then I'll have to be persuaded to give the game a chance.

Base building just as a part of the game was what make me eject on FO4. A game with that as the primary focus will be a hard pass for me. It's okay though, I'm pretty much burned out on Fallout's post-apocalyptic setting anyway.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

But, you didn’t HAVE to build anything. It’s just extra stuff you could do. I didn’t think I’d do it, but once I tried it out, it became addictive. I spent waaaay too much time building up ALL of my settlements. Ended up loving that part of the game. I hope it’s here to stay as long as it’s an optional part.

Hell, I started a new game back in December with mods. I spent probably a week doing nothing but installing mods and working out the best load order to avoid any issues. I got into the game, made it to Concord and back to Sanctuary with Preston and company, then promptly stopped playing the story to spend days doing nothing but building a fortress at Sanctuary, which then got put on the back burner as I tried to give play time to other games and never got back around to until last night.

When I last played, I had gotten walls up around the entire perimeter and a structure built for community residents to sleep in. My next goal was going to be placing lightposts along the road and elsewhere and trying to figure out the logic gates.

I came across an idea on Reddit, if you have a door that is powered for your front gate at the bridge, using logic gates, you can set it up so an alarm is connected to the door. As soon as the alarm is triggered and activated, the power to the door is cut and it closes and locks down until the alarm is turned off. With a slew of sentry guns placed around that front door/gate, anyone trying to attack via the bridge is screwed. Gonna do the same thing for the path leading from Sanctuary to the vault, since Raiders sometimes attack from that direction.

The 4Chan rumors above sound better than the Rust like game...will be interesting to see if Jason from Kotaku is right or not. Sounds like vastly different ideas of a game IMO.
