Speaking of companions can we equip them with more powerful weapons? Unlimited ammo like FO3?

Re: Fallout 4
I think only their default weapon has unlimited ammo. They will use just about any weapon you give them, some with particular exceptions. They will also pick up weapons and ammo from fallen enemies (I don't think they raid boxes, but I have seen companions suddenly with an enemy weapon and ammo to go with it).Comment

Fallout 4
I'm Lvl 30 and pretty much just got to diamond city story wise. Did a mission or two there then got sidetracked big time.
Built a 4 story house at a new settlement tonight. Fell off the top of it and died. Didn't save at all during the building. Dumb on my part. 2 hours of play time wasted.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Been playing the game the last 3 days. So far, I'm not impressed with this game like I was with others before it. To put it simply, Betheseda appears to be living off the laurels of the past. Yes it's a big world. Yes, there is a LOT to do. However, the story telling and direction is extremely dated. It's not triple-A by any measure. Some of the voice work (not all, but some) is just plain bad. The companion AI, specifically their pathing (getting in front of you and blocking your path), has to be one of the worst implementations in a game in a long time. The game is horrible at explaining what needs to be done, or better, how it needs to be done at times. The sad thing is, with just a few minor 'helps', the game could have avoided so much unnecessary frustration on the part of the gamer.
Bethesda built is brand off of beautiful worlds. Something most games simply couldn't achieve. That's no longer the case on these current gen systems. Many games look great now, and they have better/current approaches to story telling, cut scenes, etc. They really need to bring their story telling up to the current level/approaches instead of following the same mechanisms utilized in games from the late 90s.
Game is keeping me entertained, but find myself unnecessarily frustrated with my canine companion FAR too often, and downright bored with all of the trips that have to be made back to camp and to sellers to unload and breakdown components. Game would be FAR more enjoyable if Dogmeat would just stay behind me and if we could breakdown/send components back to be sold/stored without making the extra trip(s).Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Put anything you're not using in the workbench, especially junk because junk is automatically scrapped when you need a material for building stuff or doing mods to your weapons/armor. Plus you can then access anything you have in there from any workbench you're at within Sanctuary. As for an early vendor, Trashcan Carla roams around the land near Sanctuary.Comment

Re: Fallout 4
Fallout 3, Skyrim, and Oblivion all have bad storytelling, but it's easier to look past that when you had much more freedom to project yourself onto a blank slate character and create your own stories as you're exploring their worlds. It's a different approach and there's room for both.
In Fallout 4, the main character is voiced, has a pre-defined backstory, the plot is more in your face and urgent, and you have less freedom to role play than you've ever had in their games. It ends up feeling like the worst of both approaches and them trying to do more modern characterization makes it easier than ever to draw not so favorable comparisons.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Fallout 4
I see no difference in approach to story and role playing in this game compared to any other Bethesda game since morrowind.
This is the exact same formula they've always used. Generic opening story that you can follow or choose not to, and plenty of ways to build your guy. I'm not seeing how that's changed.
If anything that would be my gripe.Comment

I've had to swear off Fallout until after I graduate on the 19th. I just have so much to do, and getting sucked into exploring for four hours at a time is really bad for my productivity.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: Fallout 4
Much thanks for this piece of info. Saved me a least a little frustration.
Now, if only I could just send all this junk back and avoid having to make all those trips. Or, when returning, actually transport back into the place I wanted to go, instead of transporting outside of it, then sitting through a 2nd load screen while I enter the area I really wanted to enter in the first place (think dungeon here). So much wasted time...Last edited by Valdarez; 11-29-2015, 02:44 PM.Comment

In all honesty, I would've rather seen them stick more closely to the old ways.

It was jarring for me, after playing a game like Assassins Creed Unity/Rogue (played them back to back), and then coming to this game. I felt like I went back over a decade in story telling. I get they are two far different games, but at some point Bethesda needs to up their game on the story telling / direction front, and they just haven't been doing it.Comment

Fallout 4
I had googled this, and the thread I found said the same, but the guy was saying there was an option to break the items down that had to be selected, to which the other people said they had no such option and I could find no option as well. They never said it gets broken down as necessary. I definitely know if I transfer items, they are transferred, and stored, as the type they transferred in the Workbench. I haven't used enough materials to require them to be broken down yet.

You can set a fast travel point up and travel to right in front of a store or a work station in your settlement.Comment
