OOH I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY MARIO ON PS3!

Seriously if Nintendo can cobble together a couple or so dedicated developers and keep them close to the big N then they could survive for a few yrs. It's not always about who makes the games but rather the quality. I do forsee Nintendo becoming a developer down the line tho. It's sad as I was a Nintendo kid back in the day. I never got into it when the N64 came out. I was already converted to Sony with the Playstation.

      New numbers for MArch:

      - Xbox - 198 K
      - PS2 - 294 K
      - GBA/GC - 660 K

Unless PSP can come out in 2004, Nintendo is safe for a good while.

            Re: RIP Nintendo.........

I think people posting on this thread are talking about 2 paths. Nintendo as a whole going down and Nintendo as a console maker going down. I can gurantee each and every one of you that Nintendo is not going out like Sega...but I wouldn't doubt it if the N5 is there last console (if sales are bad).

As for the GBA, of course it sells incredibly well. Yeah, it has crappy games, but what other good handheld system is out there? Yeah, the PSP is coming, but the Gameboy has been out a long time and if the PSP can become better than GBA and get good games, then I think it could compete with Nintendo with ease.

I just don't see Nintendo quitting the console arena, unless the N5 does as bad as the Gamecube. Compared to XBOX, it's pretty close, but the cube should be doing so much better. There are millions of Nintendo fans out there and when the Gamecube was announced all of them jumped for joy. But no online play, crappy 3rd party support and a kiddy image absolutely destroyed Nintendo's image as a console making company. Unless N5 has online play, a neutral image, Sony-like 3rd party support and a feature no other system has...then I can definately see Nintendo no longer making consoles. Which I hope doesn't happen.

I disagree with a couple of things:

The GBA does have good games(check GR)
                  - The GBA's top audience is kids, and many of the top sellers like Yu-Gi-oh and pokemon show that. Plus GBA may even =be eating into GC sales as well.

Console gaming without a Nintendo is unthinkable...and would be a sad day IMO.
