Framerate directly contributes to gameplay though. Resolution doesn't.

And we're not even talking about 30 vs 60 fps. There are reports of the frame rate dropping at or below 20 during game play. That's a big deal.

I haven't played yet so I can't comment on my own experience, but if the game is constantly having framerate issues that do affect the game then I hope it's fixed.

I was speaking more towards the bickering gamers have when comparing 60 fps and 30 fps that we see in games today. I just have never had issues with games at 30 fps.

If a game becomes too slow to play properly then of course its going to affect my enjoyment and not because I'm some visual aficionado.

            Re: Assasins Creed Unity

I have only had 1 or 2 frame rate hiccups. Nothing too bad yet. Had a whopper of a graphical glitch though. When I was introduced to the assassins, there was no graphics for the background. Everyone was floating in the air and I walked down invisible stairs the whole way. Yeah, that took me out of the moment a bit.

I do like the combat system more now.

Have yet to notice any frame rate issues.

There may have been a blip here or there that I missed, but certainly nothing noticeable.

Hey good call bro. Think we said that already. Normal 30 fps, not an issue. Frame rate dropping to below that due to issues, problem.

Edit - Been texting with buddy who's an OS'er and has the game. No frame rate issues for him so far and he has been playing all morning. Seems hit or miss.

These types of things are getting more and more egregious.

Unity also appears to be an experiment to see how much Ubisoft can atomize a game and split it into tiny component parts, the better to aggressively adopt the gameplay systems and business practices of character-leveling, randomized gear collection, individualized characters, synced companion apps and optional and temporary microtransaction-fueled stat-boosting that can make solo gameplay easier.

The good of that atomization of Assassin's Creed game design involve the myriad looks you can adopt for Arno by changing his cowl and clothes...

.. and it's nice to have a broader range of weapons and equipment that can modify the assassin's abilities...

But then there's optional but questionable stuff like this, a real-money way to obtain the game's optional "hack" currency instead of using the in-game currency you earn by finishing most missions...

This wouldn't be so aggravating if there weren't other treasure chests that could only be opened if you have been using the game's iOS and Android companion app.

Agreed. I don't want to have to sign up for Initiates (there's those chests too) and sign up for the Android uplay app. It all seems like a huge pain in the ***.

Microtransactions are such a turn off in a game like this.

I'm about 3 hours into the game on ps4 and I'm really enjoying it so far. The combat is much improved over ac4. Character control when walking around is so much tighter, which was really needed since there are so many interior spaces to navigate. The game is great looking with some of the best lighting effects I've seen. I did notice some framerate hiccups a few times when there was a lot of stuff happening on screen but nothing too bad imo. The absolute worst part of the game so far has been the load times. Not only are they long but they happen way too frequently. Unbearable

Would anyone recommend this game to an AC fan since day one? Since i've seen the Review, i'm a little suspect on justifying me buying it

The Android app and microtransactions are what I consider major problems compared to frame rate issues. When you have crap like this in a game, frame rate doesn't seem so damn important anymore unless it's so bad that you want to stop playing the game.
