Awww man... so I can collect a ton of Blood Echos, but it's not going to matter unless I beat the boss? Or is there a place to save all of that? At least I know I didn't waste time, as that's the end game for that area. I thought I played all that time and messed up. I also thought I got trolled by that video and he just wanted people to get destroyed by the boss thinking a lamp is there.

I found the shortcut, which is good.

So do I need to go back through and farm more blood vials, molotov's, etc before I face the boss again? I ran through all of mine trying to defeat him. Do I need to get a lot of blood echos and upgrade my weapon before?

Right now I am rolling as a Lone Survivor, with cane and blunderbuss. I might switch to Saw, but when I was just messing around, it seems hard to use because you have to be so close. When I extend it I feel it's better, but I don't know. I have enjoyed the cane the most, but is easily the weakest.

Or maybe I could just read through this thread, eh?

Either way. I have put in about 8 hours total on this game (almost 6 before I started over) and I love it. It's frustratingly fun.

When you have a lot of blood echoes you don't want to lose, go back to the lantern and spend them on things.

You don't have to fight that one, if you have the music box though, you can call in Father G to help you. But the Cleric Beast is an optional boss. Father G is the actual true first boss.

Doh! Now I am even more confused. So the second lamp isn't after Cleric Beast? So where is the second lamp?

Yes, there's a lamp there if you beat him. What he meant is Father G is the boss you need to beat to progress past the first "level". Cleric Beast is an intro to what boss fights are like and gives you another lamp.

Got it. So the first lamp in Central Yahrnman is when you climb up the ladder before and second lamp is after Cleric Beast?

                      That's right.

Though it is possible to skip it altogether. That's what EG was getting at.

Yes, but that lamp is optional. The lamp after Father Gascoigne is the first lamp that progresses the story. If you've unlocked the shortcut to the elevator in Central Yarnham, you can run to Father G quite fast from the very first lamp.

This is easily my GOTY and in my top 10 games off all-time. It starts off with a love/hate kind of feeling, but I am glad I hung in there in part thanks to Brett. I am right before the final boss but I'm trying to cleanup some trophies before going to the final fight.

Picked up TLOU/Bloodborne PS4 bundle today.

People said the game was hard, but this is unreal.
I was eaten by a werewolf five seconds in, got stuck for a half hour until I found a ladder, which led me to an area where some zombies sitting around a campfire are killing me faster than I can even figure out whats happening. 90% of my game time is the reloading screen.

                            I'm regretting opening it.

Stick with it, i felt kinda how you did when i first got it, but i stuck with it, and it's currently my favorite ps4 game. Possible Game of the year. It's important to open up gates to create shortcuts, always keep an eye out for them. And with the big group of enemies, try to lure some of them away from the campfire, it's possible to single out a good amount of them, so you don't have to fight them all at once. Spacing and timing are also extremely important in this game.

                                Burn in hell, Father Gascoigne!

I hadn't played this in a couple of months because I got frustrated, but I popped it in tonight. After many deaths, I finally killed that son of a bitch. I can go to sleep in peace now.
