Torn on picking this up at lunch. I'm trying to keep my gaming budget down. With MLB The Show coming out next week and the new Mortal Kombat out a few weeks after, I'm unsure what to snag of the two. Also, will you need PS+ for Bloodborne?

If you're into the invasion aspect of the MP then yes. If you'd rather not be interfered with then PS+ won't matter. You might also not be able to use the messenger system. Sometimes helpful, sometimes trolling.Comment

Re: Bloodborne
Sitting here reading how hard this game is has me thinking what the hell did I get myself into. Never did play a Souls game before, so this will be my first attempt at one. And seeing as I am not a big RPG guy, I fully expect the game to hand my as to me on the regular.Comment

Re: Bloodborne
OK I need some help. First off how do you use your blood to level everything up? I remember in souls you used bomb fires to level up but how in this game?
The farthest I have got so far in first area is the part with the bridge and 2 beast on it. I'm getting my are kicked there.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Bloodborne
I can't believe I just made such a huge mistake. 2nd boss is almost dead, a gunshot could have killed him. Instead I go and be careless trying to swing my axe for the last hit. Of course I get combo'd and my health goes from 100 to 0 on seconds. That's the first thing you learn playing previous soul games

Man I love this game so much. The level engineering is just ridiculously well done. Have to think though people who have never played the Souls games are going to struggle for a little bit.The Ohio State University

Re: Bloodborne
There's definitely a learning curve to From games especially for those who haven't played any of their previous releases.
I played about 4 hours this morning, I had about 7000 blood saved up and instead of gearing up I walked right into the first boss without knowing what was about to happen and got killed, almost made it back to get the blood back, got killed right before, lost it all, lol. Had I known I took that encounter to unlock stat leveling I would have been smarter about it.
I'm very much enjoying it. You can tell that a lot of time was spent on the level design and environments, the enemies are great as well. I can't understate this though, for people uninitiated in the From game catalog, this isn't Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, this is very different, it is unforgiving and extremely difficult. That's kind of the whole point. If you enjoy clawing your way to being rewarded after being demolished over and over again until you figure something out, you will love it. If you want Skyrim or something like that, this is not your game. This is one of those "the juice is worth the squeeze" old school style games. I think a big part of the dev process for these games is making players feel like they could die at any moment and are always vulnerable. It's definitely effective
I'm probably going to have to buy a strategy guide. I'm having trouble figuring out attack patterns and when to parry with the sidearm. I did it randomly once and got lucky, sliced down a huge beast easily, same beast has killed me 8 straight times since, I can't get the "stun" timed correctly.
The wuss side of me wants to complain that maybe lantetns could be a little more plentiful or that the game could help you a little more, but I know that would be defeating the purpose. I do wish that multiplayer aspects didn't require using a valuable resource point each time, but I do admire From for their approach to their games and for sticking to their guns and not caving in and going "mainstream." I could see how an "easy mode" might increase their audience a little but that just isn't what their games are about.Last edited by The JareBear; 03-24-2015, 07:28 PM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Bloodborne
Not making anywhere near as much progress as I thought I would. Been playing for an hour, made it to the bridge with the wolves. After a long battle I died. Waaay back to the lantern by the ladder. It may be because I picked the waste of skin class, but struggling so far.
Is there another lantern I'm missing that's closer?Comment
