Most overrated games this gen?

Another game I pick is Full Spectrum Warrior. It was prasied all to hell but got rather stale and repetitive by the 3rd mission. Good innovations but the game was to linear.

I'm not going to flame you because IMO Halo is FAR from overrated, but I'll add the Final Fantasy's series and the Grand Theft Auto series as well.

I still find the game fun due to its challenge and unique gameplay structure, but yeah, you're right: It's too linear, lacks random AI, and online play is the exact same as offline play. That's a real downer.

FSW is one of the big gaming disappointments of this year for me, but I won't go so far to call it one of the big letdowns of this generation of consoles.

Bingo -- perfect analysis. You heard correctly.

Sega GT 2002 isn't any better -- it's worse, in fact. Once you unlock the Ford GT 40 Concept car, any race is a snap to win in SGT 2002. Problem is, you unlock the GT 40 Concept about halfway through the game.

I don't know how I could miss those 2. Sega GT is pure garbage, and GT3 was the defenition of rushed....it did virtually nothing GT2 didn't do besides downgrade the features list.

That said GT4 is looking solid, with the multiple delays it seems like they are taking their time.

I have to cast a vote for MGS2 as well. This was a huge let down to me as it hardly possessed any cool characters or memorable battles like MGS. The graphics were ofcourse better but nothing else about it really was IMO. Having Raiden as the main character was a horrible decision as well as his whiny voice made the game even harder to maintain interest in playing imo. I played through MGS 3 times! I couldn't wait to finish MGS2 and take it back for store credit.

I also thought the first Z.O.E. on the PS2 was overrated as well.

1.Halo - I can't understand the global obession here. Metroid Prime was a much better game; as was almost every other PC FPS released that year.

2.Metal Gear Solid 2 - It's nice to see that most agree with me on this one. MGS was a great game; easily up there with SoTN, VS, and FFIV on the PSX. But this sequel -- while aesthetically prevalent and musically taut -- was too boring and short for my tastes.

3.Warcraft III - I still play SC more.

4.Final Fantasy X - A great majestic piece-of-[censored]. I loved the series (exclude 9 -- and I'm partial towards 8) but the bland voice overs, lack of replayablity, and strictly-linear gameplay left me $55 shorter and displeased to the point of potentially suicide.
