Re: Overwatch
Dang, sorry you didn't like it man. At least the beta gave you a chance to find out before investing money.
The lack of emphasis on "K/D over everything" and increased emphasis on team play and objective winning as a team, together, is awesome to me. I really like that I can heal for 7000 hp, not get a single kill, and get nominated for a post game award. Every contribution helps and it keeps track of all those individual/class based stats.
I understand that some gamers, especially on console, may prefer the standard K/D battle of dominance as other popular shootersComment

Re: Overwatch
Im the guy earlier who said I was looking into buying this game but the beta saved me $60 cause I absolutely hated everything about it. Earlier I thought to myself and said I might've jumped the gun and if I gave it another chance I might like it like some of you so I decided to play another 13-15 games (I played 2 hours tops the first go around) and just cutting to the chase it reaffirm my decision NOT to purchase this game. I wouldn't even buy this game for $20. It sucks because I was really hyped for it. This game is not the business. The artstyle was not impressive, Tracer's voice was annoying, and stats like K\D radio is non existence. When my team wins it doesn't even feel good. Is this game worth $60? Hecks to the NO. Should be $20 or free to play but even at that price it isn't worthy to be in my HDD. Glad a lot of you enjoyed it cause I sure didn't.
Yeah game won't be for everyone. I understand the reasoning for the lack of K/D screen, but I still wish it was there along with all of the other stats (healing, assists, etc...)Comment

Re: Overwatch
I'll say one thing about this game. After about 20/30 games so far I'm still loving the game, but the thing that scares me is that this is such a team focused game. If the guys on your team are playing this like COD or being a lone wolf its not a fun experience. Groups that's play as a team will dominate others.Moderator

In my eyes there should have been a $40 price point like I believe it'll have on pc. There are just too many games coming right now and I'm not going to buy or play them all.
I love this game and I enjoyed playing it with friends (we had some dominant performances). I'm more leaning towards not purchasing it at $60 and maybe waiting till it drops. I'm not sure really, I'm on the fence big time because I really do love the game but don't feel there's enough there right now to justify 60 bucks (in my eyes).
We'll see, need more time hehe.Comment

Re: Overwatch
I agree on the lack of modes and price point. $60 is too much for any online only game. I'm making an exception here though because the game is just so much fun. I've already logged as many hours in the beta as I would for most $60 full scale games. The fact that future dlc will be free adds additional value compared to other shooters too. I'm still concerned about the longevity of a game like this. It's blizzard though and if I play at anywhere close the rate I have during beta for a month or so post launch then it was well with it.Comment

Re: Overwatch
So for support I originally only used mercy. Then I started using zen occasionally, but now I am using Lucio and I think he is the most fun if the support class. That aoe heal is very effective and he can still provide offensive support. I've only lost one game using him as a main
I'm really curious to see what kind of changes go into release. There has been so much complaining about bastion I think it's inevitable he gets some kind of nerf. I'm not sure who else may get hit though.Comment

Re: Overwatch
Tried the beta on PC and had a blast definitely picking this one up. Doubt I'd get this on my consoles tho.

Re: Overwatch
Going to amend my earlier balance thoughts after logging more than 100 games in the beta. General impressions for anyone considering the game regarding characters I spent enough time with to comfortable talk about.
Character - (Role) - Impressions
Offense
Tracer - (Harass) - is fine. No buff or nerfs needed. High skill cap with good returns, but her uses are limited to being an enemy harasser. She isn't going to lock down any objective, and is squishy enough that if she does get caught trying to harrass she will probably die. A lot of fun to play though, and can be very annoying for opposing teams picking off people running back from the respawn or anyone who gets a bit too far away from the rest of the team. If she needs anything then maybe a slight delay in her ult charge time as it is pretty fast.
Reaper - (Die Die Die) - So good lol. I love playing reaper, but my god he can wreck people. So much damage, his shotguns are fairly accurate at medium range (as long as you not the main one being engaged), his ult has surprisingly good range and kills anyone it touches, he has invuln and teleport abilities to get in and out of areas quickly, and a healthy enough HP pool. I don't know that he needs any tweaking, but if you want to increase your K/D ratio then pick him.
Soldier 76 - (Mid Range Sniper) - I found him to be the most balanced (in terms of jack of all trades) character in the game. He does good medium range damage, has a decent aoe heal, his secondary does a lot of damage to basically anyone, and isn't a complete glass cannon. In the right hands he can be a monster killer, and he's pretty easy to play for people just starting out.
Defense
Bastion - (Turret) - Yes he's a little OP. His turret does a lot of damage, magazine size is huge, and there isn't really any accuracy penalty for shooting at range. By himself he can wreck pub groups and people who don't know what they are doing. He has a number of counters. His value really shines when he is supported by a Reinhart which nullifies most of Bastion's easy counters. I think he needs one of 3 things to happen. A.) a cool down for his turret mode so he can't just constantly reposition without punishment. B.) Increased reload time on his turret, this would allow a small window of opportunity to get in close. C.) reduce accuracy at long range so that it's more of a spray effect than a sniper.
Widowmaker - (Sniper) - I understand the complaints about Bastion, but to me a good widowmaker is 10x harder to deal with. She is a true sniper with mobility. She's a bit squishy if you get in close, but her sniper charges to full power fast, her ult makes it really easy to pick people off trying to duck around corners (not to mention providing great scouting support for her team). I'm not even good at sniping, but even I can be mildly effective with her. I wouldn't mind seeing a slight increase on her Sniper charge time.
Junkrat - (AoE Damage) - I'm not sure, but I think he may have the highest DPS excluding head shots, and if not then he's close. He completely counter's symmetra's turrets as his base aoe will just blow them up wherever they are. Actually, he's a pretty good counter to all turrets since he can lob his grenades around corners or shoot them directly, and they do a lot of damage. His little bomb is also very effective in both 1v1 and group settings, his trap is easy to miss when looking at everything else, and his ult has some insane range with enough damage to kill all who are not tanks.
Mei - (Troll) - Yes her role in the group is to be a troll, and she is surprisingly strong. Her secondary weapon in insta kill with good aim for many characters, and her ice main weapon makes her impossible to 1v1, even Reaper with his double shotguns can't kill her if she gets close. She does have to get close and is slow, but she has a pretty healthy HP pool to make up for it. She has a great self heal, an ice wall to block additional damage/delay enemies from getting close, and her ult is going to kill everything in its vicinity. Nothing is more annoying than finding a Mei next to you and slowly being frozen and just waiting for your HP to hit 0.
Tank
Roadhog - (Tank/Short Range DPS) - My favorite tank to play. Good short range damage, a tank so the HP pool is good, an his hook is a great equalizer to opposing healers, tracers, and other squishy heroes.
Reinhardt - (Tank/Defense) - There really is not any reason to ever have a team without a Rein. It happens a lot, but you can justify his use in any situation. His big shield does so much for the team in advancing. Stick him with a Bastion and that Bastion because much harder to deal with. His close range hammer is devastating.
Support
Lucio - (AoE Heal) - I didn't realize how good he was until I played as him. He has maybe the smallest hit box in the game making him kind of annoying, and his damage output is good enough in support of other characters. He really shines though in his passive AoE heal. Everyone in range gets a HoT added to their hero, and he can "amp it up" when he needs to. He's also great at getting teammates to attack points quickly. His ult is devastating if unleashed at the right time giving your team that extra HP pool to take a key fight.
Mercy - (Dedicated Healer) - Mercy if useful in a few ways. One, she can charge up an team member's attack so that they are more effective, she can keep a tank who is dealing with 2 characters alive 90% of the time, and her rez skill is often game changing bringing your team back just as the enemy thought they had cleaned you out and yet to recover.
Symmetra - (Buff/Turret) - She is a difficult character to gauge. Her weapon is pretty powerful if she can use it. She dies easy though, and it's extremely close range. She has turrets that are more annoying than good, and can only take a single hit from any character in the game making them very easy to deal with. Her best abilities are her small shield she can give everyone on the team, and the teleporter which is actually her ult. A very useful ult, but I haven't really seen it change the balance of a match before.
Zenyatta - (Heal/Debuff) - He's a glass cannon, who can heal, and can debuff enemies. An all around solid support character as his heal is pretty effective on a single target. His ult is a game changer if your group is in a sticky situation. His true utility though I think is in his debuffing ability. He can make an opponent take increased damage. This makes him pretty effective 1v1, and very effective in a group setting.Last edited by KSUowls; 05-09-2016, 01:35 PM.Comment

Re: Overwatch
I agree with everything said about the console price point. I believe 40 dollars would have been a perfect price for this game on console.
I'm still most likely getting Day 1 but it is a busy time for gaming so I'll have to get a feel for what is happening around the community here as I don't want to play with randoms. I've seen how that goes more often than not. PC version might be more random-friendly since people see uses to TF2 style mechanics but on console it was rough in the beta, IMO at least
As I've said before, I do feel content (at launch) might be a little light for 60 bucks but I know Blizzard is gonna support the crap out of it for the long haul
I'll probably drop my Amazon pre-Order and trade in a few things for this game so it will end up costing a lot lessLast edited by The JareBear; 05-09-2016, 12:13 PM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Overwatch
Where are people getting "lack of game modes"? It seem like the normal modes for this.
Another thing, they could offer a base game at $20 with 3 characters and charge for skins and heroes like LOL does or some thing. You'd be spending more than $60 easy.Comment

Re: Overwatch
There's 4 game modes and for the most part, as it has been discussed on here, they tend to feel "samey." This was talked about a couple pages ago I think
From what I understand the beta was basically the full game and I was kinda surprised by that. Was hoping for more game modes/maps out the box"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."
