Was going to make this thread last night, but I got lazy. Since we're now over a year into the current gen, it's time for a little reflection on the last one. Inspired by Game Informer posting their lists yesterday. Mine:

What superhero games should be like. After so many failed attempts, Rocksteady got it right with Arkham Asylum. They knocked it further out the park with this one. I can only hope that Arkham Knight lives up to the first two entries.

Behemoth put out my favorite indie game with this one. Spent countless hours on it and still play it to this day. Have not unlocked everything yet. Top-notch soundtrack as well. While I loved what Behemoth did with Alien Hominid, this game made sure I would check out everything they do.

Love the combat. Love the story. Geralt is a great protagonist. Enemies not being afraid to fight you at the same time does a lot for games like this. Cannot wait for the third entry which is easily my most anticipated game at the moment.

The Mass Effect series in general was likely favorite overall experience last gen. Picking my favorite of all three is tough, but I have to go with two. While the original has the best antagonists and RPG elements and three tells the stories the best (ending never bothered me too much, but the ride up to that is top notch for story conclusions), two just nailed the characters introduced. I loved having the giant party in this game and the mission structure was better than the other two. The fighting being tightened up from one also helps a bunch.

Loved Borderlands and two just made everything better. There was actually a story for one. All of the guns and the humor in this game can't be topped for me. Throw in characters like Tiny Tina and there's no game for me that understands that gaming is supposed to be fun quite like Borderlands 2. It's probably one of the re-releases I would by on current-gen consoles if it were to happen even though I own it on 360 and PC already.
