How's this for a deal, with my rewards points I've saved plus the GCU 20% off, I just pre-ordered Star Wars Battlefront deluxe and Fallout 4 and my whopping total is $23.98, not to mention each one of those games snags me another $10 in rewards points.Playstation Network:That70s_Gamer

To clarify I think he means you can't get the 20% discount, but you can still get the double points which will result in an extra 2% back in gift cards eventually.Comment

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
You want to space out your reward certs to not go lower than a purchase price of $20 to give yourself wiggle room on any price adjustments.
If you don't, you rely too much on bb's shaky system of giving your points back.
You'll eventually use all certs so no reason to make it hard on yourself.Last edited by Dos_Santos; 09-10-2015, 11:51 PM.Comment

What I do is if I got certificates piling up (I got a 25 dollar one now) I go ahead and use it towards a preorder.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
Correct. Whatever you buy, you have to take into account the free price protection especially if you are elite plus as almost anything you buy will drop. And certs going back onto your account without a phone call is very inconsistent and just not worth the risk with as many games and such that are released. Especially want to be more careful as we get closer the extended price protection of the holidays where you almost get three months of price protection. You don't want to use more than 20 to 25 certs on any games.Comment

Of course we know BB track record employees (no offense to the ones who may be OS'ers), but I never really questioned too hard.Comment

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
So you can use points on a pre-order? I've only tried once but the associate at the time told me I could not use reward certs as a payment towards pre-order and that I'd have to use it when actually purchased the game.

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
The gist of it is you only want to use your reward certs on roughly 50 percent of the purchase price because you want to leave yourself wiggle room when or if that price drops during whatever price protection you are afforded based on your best buy level.
So if you pay off near the total purchase price via certs and it drops and you price adjust, the chances of those points being refunded correctly to your rewards account without a 30 minute phone call are very slim.
This strategy becomes even more important starting November 1 when everyone gets extended price protection til January 15 where pretty much anything you buy will drop at some point during that period.
You want to make all of your purchases clean and easily tracked. It's why I never, ever do online purchases unless I have to because the dreaded bby01 order number will require you to always call in to price adjust and phone calls are inefficient if you have access to a bb and a rapport with customer service is established.
As an example, using a 40 or 45 cert on a game and that game drops and you adjust under whatever you paid for from a cert value, you are owed those points that get refunded, but they rarely are put back on your account. It requires a phone call and it's a hassle.Last edited by Dos_Santos; 09-11-2015, 09:20 AM.Comment
