Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
Ryder doesn't quite have Shepards nasty side....I don't think you can make a very good 'Pathfinder Ryder is a jerk' compilation like you could with the classic Shepard ones...

That's true and that's one of the more valid complaints that I've seen. In MEA2, there needs to be an "aggressive" tone added to the mix. Just DO NOT go back to P/R. Far too binary and it penalized people for mixing both.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
So I had no ideal their is a re-spec station on the tempest. I've been carrying around points in assault rifles for no reason.
Is their any way to change armor color?Last edited by AshamanCarnage; 04-24-2017, 10:34 PM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
I think that the differences between Ryder and Sheppard cannot be understated. I'll put all of this in a spoiler just in case, but I am not giving away any plot spoilers that don't happen within the first hour of ME:1 or ME:A.
SpoilerShepard was already a bit of a "bad a**" before the ME trilogy began; being considered for the Spectres. Shepard was a seasoned veteran soldier that had been on the front lines. Going through the trauma of combat is going to give just about anyone a "jaded" side to their personality. Shepard could command respect at the outset, a "Hero's hero" if you will.....
Ryder strikes me as a doe-eyed, greenhorn explorer type who isn't particularly seasoned. Thrown into the pathfinder role due to the events which unfolded in the first mission and not necessarily emotionally ready for it, Ryder is still searching for what it means to be a pathfinder (showing the kind of "human" vulnerability that Shepard never did). Even those around Ryder question his/her current ability to do the job. Imagine yourself thrown into that role...holy crap...
To me, role-playing as Shepard was role-playing as a charismatic hero. Role-playing as Ryder is role-playing as someone that you could practically meet in your everyday life who just got thrown into a big pile of crap. Not passing a judgment either way...but they are definitely two different personalities.
I think Shepard was more or less the same person throughout the original series....sure, you could decide what kind of person Shepard was based on your actions; but the overall persona never really changed.
What I am hoping for is the possibility of more character development for Ryder throughout the Andromeda series....from rookie to seasoned pro...those experiences allowing for the possibility of some darker options being presented.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
Finally started playing this and this is my first ME game. As usual I am confused about a number of things. The game doesn't really help you much at all. Just throws you into it. It really only tells you to use L2 to aim and R2 to fire, ignoring L1 and the melee button. The game does a poor job of explaining how to do everything and the UI doesn't really help. Par for the course for many RPGs but I wish it wasn't a steep learning curve.
That said I like the story in my short time with it. I've played 2.5-3 hours and I'm just on the Nexus now. My brief combat has been fun. I'm really not that good and have died a few times which has set me back a bit. I hate how I can't save during a mission. I had cleared out a ship and died in an ambush when I left it on the first planet. I lost 10+ minutes of stuff.
I wish I could control the camera zoom (I want it further out in combat as it almost feels like an FPS at times). I don't know how all the weapons, health or much else works yet but I'm sure I will eventually figure it out. So far, so good. And with the patch I haven't noticed anything bad with the faces and stuff.Comment

Hit me up here or on PSN and I'll explain anything you want. If you need tips, I got that too. I'm currently on my 3rd playthrough trying to get the Insanity trophy. I'm extremely OP now so my only holdup is time.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
I remember being lost during my first play through of DAI. At 20 hours I was still confused by some things. I actually enjoyed my second play through a lot more since I knew what I was doing. I'm sure the same type of thing will happen here. Will definitely be asking for advice on things!Comment

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
That said, my personal opinion is that if you've waited to this point without buying, it's probably best to continue to hold off and see how at least the next patch goes, as more polishing/improvement is planned and there will likely be other discount opportunities as well.Comment

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
I haven't seen all the glitches and issues since I started playing which was after the first big patch. Not that far in but man this game does not help you at all. Even figuring out how to leave the Rover I accidentally beamed to the Tempest and took off. Then I go back to EOS and can't find my Rover! Didn't realize I had to go to a station to ask for it. So many little things that confuse a newbie it can get frustrating. I don't know how patches are going to fix that for me.
I have still enjoyed my small amount of time with it this week.Comment

Hold triangle to interact with every single thing, including boarding the rover, but not to get out of it. Nope, that's circle.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
I have a lot of hours into the game. I really want to love it but it just feels so....average at this point.
Maybe I should stop doing all the missions, which I have been, and focus on the main stuff so I don't burn out...which I feel close too.
