Right now it's $553k of $700k, so hoping they'll get there.

Some of the blurred stuff was reordered and un-blurred too.

      Link to Kickstarter page

Hoping it gets funding, though I doubt it'll get much past the goal

Have to wonder, if this doesn't get funded will they revert back to their original Summer Camp game? I prefer that idea anyway and from the explanation of why they went to kickstarter it seemed to me at least that they only did it to enhance the game with the Friday the 13th license.

Just making sure I have it right, if I give $30 I get the game when it releases for whichever platform I want? Don't have to choose yet or anything right?

I would think so but not sure about when you pick. A lot of times closer to release the people send out a survey to backers where they pick....it may be possible they want you to pick when buying but I doubt it. Not sure on that though.

They said that they will find a way to release it even if it doesn't make the $30k they need. They will just pare down the expectations. Kind of bummed it's not getting the great response it really deserves.
The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.

I don't see why it couldn't work if a game like Alien Isolation sold.

I agree with you regarding the Kickstarter ploy to gain licensing rights to Friday The 13th.
Looking at how well Until Dawn did, I would have guessed the game could have done well without the license.

Yes this was originally the Summer Camp game. It wasn't really a ploy though, Sean Cunningham saw the promo for the game and got in touch with the developers about using the Friday the 13th license. The developers said they wanted extra funds to make it worthy of the franchise hence the kickstarter. But that leads one to believe Summer Camp is still a completed game and could be release if the funds aren't raised.

From 2007, wasn't sure how I'd like it after all this time, but still think it would be cool.

For years ive been thinking it would be cool to have a halloween game based on the movie/michael myers. Whenever I think about it, my second thought is always who would you play as? Michael or the victim? then I end the thought process by thinking that itll be nearly impossible to make a full drawn out game based on killing a few ppl.

This is until today when it hit me on how to make this game. Ill break down here my thoughts and what I have come up with.

                        - Game is based off the movie so it needs all the theme music and visuals. Particularly Michael Myers and his mask.

                        - Game is based in the ficticious city of Haddonfield.

Now, there needs to be a full drawn out city created. the game will be story driven/ semi-non linear. There is a definate storyline bu it is free roam, not levels.

Basically you are Michael Myers. I have not yet thought exactly about a storyline. 1 thought is that hey have some new and unrelated storyline in comparison to any of the movies. Anoither is that they pick up the game where Ressurection left off(since it seems as that storyline is dead--no pun) or another interseting thought is to make it follow a storyline where it makes a real halloween 3. where hallowwen 2 left off and before halloween 4. Regardless the game needs a clear and catchy storyline.

As I stated before you are michael. you start the game wherever the story line requires you to (IE in the hoslital you break out, in prison, wake up and vanish and ppl find out your alive, etc. you get the point. you are equiped with your mask and a map of haddonfield to start out.

This is where the gameplay starts. you have to get your weapons like knives, etc. It is important that haddonfield is a living breathing city so If you go to a house, you have to use stealth to get in. If your spotted you will have to go after and get the person who saw you before they dial the phone for the cops or get outside to scream. Whats important about this is you have to do your research because the victims can run, you however can only walk at a fast place so if there are 2 doors at a house and you want to go in the back and gab a knife from the kitchen and feel as though you may get caught, you may have to say kill a victim and place them at the front door that way when the person who spots you runs for the door they run into a body and stay in the house and run upstairs or something giving you more time to kill them.
Now if you dont get spotted its all good. you roll out with your new knife in hand. Now as far as the storyline and what "missions" there will be stil need more thought by me. the following is just some general gameplay ideas.

General "mission" type kills need to be "stalked" or planned. you cant just roll up to the target stab it and roll out. This is where "The Shape Mode" comes in. Say the storyline calls for or a mission calls for you to kill JOSEPH. There is a meter with how much "SHAPE" you have left. In the daytime shape runs out faster than at night. while in shape mode you can tell by markers or lights, etc where you can see JOSEPH but he cant see you. when in shape mode and while standing in theres areas planning for your victim random pedestrians cant see you in these areas either. you have to get to these areas though and they may be by a tree in the front yard of a random house so you cant just roll over though the backyard of a house. you have to tactfully get there. Once at your marker you will be able to identify traits of the victim, what he does where he goes, etc Once you gather enough information you can plan out how to go about the kill.
Now what happens when you get low on "shape"? you have to return to your safehouse "the meyers house" to re energize yourself.

Now while you are out stalking your victim you may be spotted etc. say you get spotted and a person comes at you with a gun. if your life meter runs out you will fall but it will rejuvenate and you can get back up once enough comes back. Now say you fall and the person goes and calls the cops. if you get up in time to kill the person and get out you can do so and watch the cops swarm from a distance or if you take to long or the person evades you you can take on the cops. the cops will 9 times out of ten over power you. this is where you can sacrifice the rest of your "shape" to "play dead" this will get you a ticket to the morgue where you will have to sneak out or kill your way out, you will be able to wake up in the ambulance as well and get out but you run a high risk of being spotted.

As the game goes on you should be able to "advance" as michael myers. things like attribute increases such as quicker hand to hand death, quicker shape rejuvenation, etc.

Throughout the game you will be able to "sense" dr loomis closing in on you. you may be stalking a victim sense he is near and see him run past you down the street or drive by. its your decision to roll out, try to kill him, or ignore it and keep stalking. He is a faster responder than the police so if you are in someones house and are spotted,if he is hot on your trail he may be there before the cops so you have to take that into account.

you can drive cars, amulances, etc just while driving you are at a much greater risk of being spotted. this wont be a driving game so cars will only be used for quicker transportation. you wont be able to roll around hitting people crashing, etc. you wioll also have to find unlocked cars( using shape mode)

Mission Origin- this is a pretty tricky thing to come up with. we cant have someone giving you missions, cant just have random stuff. what can be done is the missions come from the mind of a psycopath himself. There may be 7 or 8 "key targets in the game which have icons on th map in example the main people you are going for are "dr loomis, laurie stroud, 3 of lauries friends etc. since travel is a little slower and you will be at places like the hospital, meyers house etc. side missions open up. you may pass a house and here people talking, you get a cut scene of michael havin a flashback of his sister being mean to him, he then has to kill the voices he hears cause he thinks their his sister or something.

you may be near the cemetary and have a flashback and then have to go and get the judith meyers tomb stone and bring it back to the meyers house.

all in all I dont belive the game will have to move 2000 miles per hour to be challenging and entertaining and it seems like its a great opportunity to add another storyline to the halloween experience. although there will be alot of violence in the game, its no different tha all the killing that goes on in other games. michael cant use guns or any advanced weapons and its not a run around everywhere slashing people non stop. its a tactical game where you have to be covert in your work. no different than hitman type games.

lemme now if you guys think its a good idea or add your own aspects that you could see in this game.

this game isnt being created or anything I just had an imagination today and felt the need to think out loud here and be creative with an idea.

Excuse my ignorance, but if you donate money, do they ship you a 'free' game?
Or is it basically just a donation where you never get anything for your contribution?

It's so close, that it's going to be made. If they were to be short on the last day, I'd imagine they have a backup plan to have someone throw the rest in the Kickstarter to make it complete. Hopefully they will add all those deaths and extra's in as well.
