Going off of games that I finally got around to playing in 2015 (not necessarily 2015 games):

1. Rocket League - Has to be #1 just in terms of value. To get a game for free that you invest as much time into that I have with this game is just too good. The first few weeks that I downloaded it, I'm not sure I've ever been more hooked on a game. I don't play it nearly as much now, but it's still good to pop in and play here and there.

2. FIFA 16 - As someone that's more of a casual soccer fan, I'm able to gloss over some of the issues in Manager Mode and just enjoy the game. The gameplay was a big step up this year IMO between AI defensive angles, adding the hard pass, and subtle improvements across the board.

3. NHL 16 - It had been a long time since I had played an NHL game, but the re-addition of EASHL alone made this game great. The team chemistry mechanic that is in the Franchise mode is a cool addition as well.

4. Destiny/Battlefront - I couldn't decide between the two shooters. Both games are lacking in terms of single-player (with Battlefront not having a campaign at all and Destiny's just being kinda disjointed and lifeless), but the online play was a blast for me. Battlefront is simply great because it's Star Wars, and it's more of a casual shooter that allows me to take it less seriously and just have fun. I'm not sure what it is about Destiny but something about the gameplay made it a blast for me. I love the more realistic shooters like Battlefield, but something about Destiny struck a chord with me.

5. Assassin's Creed: Black Flag - Like I said, this list wasn't necessarily games that came out in 2015. I picked up Black Flag for Christmas (the last AC game that I had played was AC2) and I've been having a blast with it. The mix of exploring the seas, bar games, ship battles, carrying out missions without alerting anybody has made AC a lot less repetitive than the early games were. I picked up Syndicate as well and can't wait to get started on that one.

Honorable Mentions:
NBA 2K16 - I've gotten less hooked on these games each year even though they continue to get better and I'm not sure why, but it's a great game.
MLB the Show - One of the reasons I made the move to the PS4; these games are always great.
GTA V - This would have been included in my Top 5 if 2015 were the year that I first tried it, but considering I got it on release day for the 360 and continue to play it today on the PS4, this is one of my favorite games ever.

1. NBA 2k16: just amazing what this series has become. There's so much to do and the game plays great.

2. Mortal Kombat X: Instant classic fighting game. Plays so fluid and the graphics are beautiful. Online is pretty seamless too.

3. Rocket League: Just pure, simple fun. Affordable, addictive, and filled with close games. Always makes you play "just one more."

4. WWE 2k16: Possibly the best wrestling game ever made. A lot of depth, customization, options, and the in-ring game play is finally realistic and looks great.

You must have missed out on No Mercy and WrestleMania 2000. Lol!

Rocket League - can play all day everyday. Love it

Witcher 3 - up there with final fantasy tactics, half life 2, and castlevania: sotn as one of my favorite games ever. Still playing after 150 plus hours

Wolfenstein new order and old blood - so much fun. When these are on sale they are the best deal on psn by far

Madden - thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game while it lasted. Big step in the right direction

Now, get ready to flame me......

Arkham Knight - I really loved it. I felt like Batman. Don't hate me but for me it's up there with Arkham city as my favorite of the series. Hated the PC version debacle though

I had a lot of fun with Evil Within and Halo 5 as well. Uncharted Drakes Collection, if remasters count

Still
Haven't played Rise of Tomb Raider, sounds like a real winner.

In no particular order:

Madden 16 (PS4): The first Madden since the PS2 era that I've looked forward to playing and progressing in my Franchise. It's fun, its beautiful and despite the commentary quirks, it is like watching a game on TV.

MLB The Show 15 (PS Vita): Despite having the game for PS4, this game was the heartbeat in my Vita for the longest time. I liked being able to sit on my couch and bang out series after series and if I wanted to (and it was rare) I could use the cloud and play on my PS4. This is going to sound insane but the lack of a Vita version means 16 will not be a day 1 purchase.

Rocket League (PS4): My GOTY. Amazingly addictive game. It seamlessly is one of those games that just about anyone can pick up and play but also one that rewards those who learn its nooks and crannies. I think the fact it came out of nowhere helped.

Splatoon (Wii U): Holy **** is this game a good time. It is unique in its mechanics and was an enjoy for my whole family to play. My 12 year old loves it, my 4 year old loves to watch it and I can't stop playing it.

Super Mario Maker (Wii U): Only picked it up a couple of days ago but wow wow wow...what a nostalgic rush. I've already texted friends and family that I know who have SMM and we've shared level codes. A lot of fun.

I wouldn't have believed back in August that Madden would be on so many 'favorite lists'.

It's on mine as well. With adjustments, this is the best Madden has been as far as gameplay, imo. I haven't kept a Madden this long since the PS2 days.

Rocket League - as others have said, it's just fun. Can be as simple or involve as much strategy as you like. One of those awesome "one more match" games.

The Witcher 3 - hands down, the best game I've ever played. Love the stories. I usually don't care much about the story in games, but the stories in this game are so good they make me want to finish quests (main and side) just to see the story evolve.
