Awesome game. Much improved over Titanfall 1. I was really down on the tech test, and thought the game would disappoint. I was wrong. Multiplayer is a lot of fun. They added so much more depth to it.

      Re: Titanfall 2

Got some decent playing time in this weekend. Had a blast and felt they improved on some good things from the first game, which I played a bunch of.

Maps ate taking time getting use to but they seem well designed but did notice one my son was playing that seemed really small and when there are Titans it got really cramped and usually ended with one team sitting with 5 Titans destroying everything.

Movement is on point and bring able to constantly keep moving with the different skills are nice.

Cons for me are the preset costumes really wished they would allow those to be customized.

And the preset titans. I feel this is the big step back from the first game. Being able to set up guns with abilities to create a titan that worked best for you or the situation was great. Now you have Titans that I feel were set in stone so they could create the sense of more Titans because people complained about there not being enough in the last game.

I just feel that the restrictions really ruin the Titans as you are no limited to the 6 versus the amount of combinations you could make in the first one.

But I guess the fewer choices makes it easier to game plan around. Saw it in last titan standing a team went heavy legions so a player went Ronin knowing they would lack mobility and slipped in behind them phased in closer than nuked taking a large group of therm.

But I well say after the amount of time I spent playing the first one respawn is good at adding things over time and constantly trying to improve the game.

        Re: Titanfall 2

For any of those that are interested, the people at The Ringer (Bill Simmons' new website/podcast network) have created a new podcast for video gaming, and their first episode is largely devoted to Titanfall 2 (2nd half of the podcast is an interview with the CEO of their development studio who apparently also created the original Call of Duty from the sounds of it).

I haven't bought Titanfall 2, and probably don't intend to, but the podcast was pretty cool to listen to. Some of the things they talked about were some of the breakthroughs in FPS games back in the day that seem so obvious now, how game studios approach DLC versus just creating a new game, and stuff like that.

Also, for anyone on PS4, I haven't been able to play anything much the past week or so but I should be on a lot more often now. Gotta start my MP experience

I've heard it has done poorly. Guessing due to release time with battlefield and cod it was going to get over shadowed and the beta turning people off even though they fixed the stuff they altered.

Barely marketing it and releasing it between BF1 and Cod knowing damn well it would have done better in sales in the spring.

I have not seen a single commercial for the game. They released it sandwiched between Gears of War/Battlefield 1, and Call of Duty. Three of the biggest franchises of all time.

Titanfall doesn't have a loyal fanbase that will pull people from those other games. If they had released it in late winter or spring people would be tired of those games and be more interested in something new.

Maybe they thought it a good idea to get people playing before COD drops.

Are things like marketing/commercials effective in producing sales for games? I am asking because I just don't know. I don't remember seeing that many commercials for games other than WWE2k17 every time I watch raw, GOW4 and COD. Not even sure I have seen much marketing for BF1 outside of online trailers/websites. Maybe because I am constantly going to Video Game info sources several times a day, I don't notice how they are marketed or the marketing is not for me.

                              Re: Titanfall 2

I’ve just finished my sixth cup of coffee today, blissfully drowsy. I popped Titanfall 2 into my Xbox One at about 11 p.m. last night, and the next thing I knew, it was 2:20 a.m.

Titanfall 2 is that good. It makes you forget about normal conventions such as time.

I was a late convert to Titanfall, only getting into it when it became available on EA Access. I thought I didn’t want a mech game. Didn’t want to subject my age 50+ reflexes to a fast-paced shooter. Already had enough shooters.

I was wrong. Titanfall is a great game, one of the true sleeper hits for me on the Xbox One.

Titanfall 2 is a different game than Titanfall. It’s not just the first game, reheated in the microwave with a few new graphical and gameplay elements.

The first Titanfall was a mech game with shooting. Titanfall 2 is a shooter with mechs.

There’s much more emphasis on ground combat in Titanfall 2 multiplayer, as the importance of soldiers is greater than in the first game. But the mechs are still there in their glory. But they’re tougher to get.

Titanfall respawned titans on a timer, regardless of your performance. Titanfall 2 instead respawns titans based on a system in which you’re rewarded with respawn points based on your performance. Bottom line: Kill more enemies and achieve more objectives, and you’ll get your titan faster.

Many people are bitching about this. I think it’s brilliant. Reward-based performance always is preferred to enabling. This new system makes me want to be a better player all the time.

Another complaint is that the new maps are less open and more “path” oriented. That’s tough for titans. True. But I still think there’s plenty of room for titans to maneuver, especially as they feel faster and more nimble than in the first game.

The graphics also don’t measure up to Battlefield 1, which is stunning. Titanfall 2 is no dog to look at, but its palate and detail aren’t as vivid as Battlefield 1.

But good Lord, this game does nearly everything else right.

“Feel” is such an abstract, bullsh*t term. But it really applies to first-person shooters. The greatest modes, maps and graphics can be neutered by a sense of detachment from surroundings, weapons and characters.

Titanfall 2 bridges the gap between my control pad and my weapon as well as any shooter I’ve played since the original Halo. I used to think Bungie was the master of gun play with the Halo franchise and Destiny.

Move over, Bungie: There’s a new sheriff in town – Respawn.

The gun mechanics are FLAWLESS in this game. We’re talking Hannah Davis-in-a-bikini bronzed skin here.

Aiming while on the move – a must in Titanfall – works great. Headshots take people out. Body shots take more time, but I never felt like a foe survived my attacks despite being a bullet sponge.

Movement is a joy. So responsive, whether it’s running, jumping, parkour or using the FANTASTIC grappling hook.

Respawn also paid attention to the little things. My controller gently vibrates in unison with rounds being emptied from my clip. My controller rumbles more when I’m running as a titan than when running as a soldier.

I detected so many influences in this sequel. The original Titanfall, of course. But since Respawn developed some of the greatest Call of Duty games, I also felt the lineage of vintage, tight COD controls and combat. I also felt some of the pure, unfiltered manic FPS joy of Quake or Unreal Tournament from the 90s. Big grins abounded last night. I also felt a bit of Halo, too.

There is SUCH a good balance between mech and soldiers in multiplayer. In Titanfall, I couldn’t wait for my titan to revive so I could climb in. Last night there were a handful of times where my titan was available yet I kept fighting on foot.

Now for the inevitable comparison to Battlefield 1, another EA blockbuster shooter. There really is no comparison other than both are first-person shooters.

BF1 is a more tactical, slower game based on history. Titanfall 2 is a fact-paced, yet controlled and smooth game based on mech fantasy. They’re both great. Both should be in your library if you have any interest in first-person shooters. It’s stupid to choose between both if you can find the scratch to buy both.

BF1 looks prettier. But TF2 is much smoother. There’s not a whisper of lag anywhere in the game, gameplay or menus.

I can’t comment on single-player campaign, as I haven’t started that in either game. But reviews and gamer feedback indicate the campaign is superb in both games.

My biggest criticism surrounding Titanfall 2 is reserved for Electronic Arts. What the f*ck was EA thinking by release Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 – its biggest shooter franchises – within two weeks of each other? EA sent Titanfall 2 to die in the marketplace due to intrasquad competition from BF1 and outside competition from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and other AAA titles such as the remastered Skyrim.

That’s a shame, as Titanfall 2 would have received the respect and attention it deserves if it was released in the spring, away from holiday blockbuster season.

Don’t be scared by claims the multiplayer base already is drying up. Even if the numbers can’t compare to BF1, you only need 10 people to have a GREAT match.

Plus Respawn already has said all DLC will be FREE, avoiding the fragmentation of the userbase by paid DLC with the original Titanfall. So this game will have legs and be the gift that keeps giving.

Titanfall 2 is a singular FPS experience. There’s nothing on the market like it. If you’re even thinking of buying it, DO IT NOW.

You said it was better than I have in this thread and I agree with you completely

As of right now it's my vote for Shooter of the Year

Hopefully it gets a flash sale or a free weekend or something so the Gears/BF/CoD crowd actually give it a chance and the community explodes

I think EA has done the game a disservice

I understsnd what their strategy was but it seems to have backfired horribly
