Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
How am I narrow minded because I want to be able to play a game I paid good money for anytime I want to play it. It has nothing to do with being online in any other form. If a website is down, fine try again later, I did not pay for that website. But I paid for this game and I should be able to play when I want. Which is why I usually stay away from online gaming. If anyone here is being narrow minded it is you. Not to mention your point makes no sense. So basically you are saying if I don't like one thing out of hundreds of types I should avoid them all. So since I don't like Honda's I guess I should never drive any other car, ever? Sorry if my frustration bothers you but there was no need to be insulting.
While I'm not sure anymore and I won't go searching, years ago you could download DDoS software just as easy as downloading flash player.
Take that into account, then paint a picture of a standard doorway in your head. Now try and cram 500,000 people through that doorway at the same time. See the problem here?
Honestly, regardless of whether you bought something for money or not, these attacks are becoming more common, more intense, and harder to defend against. Again as I pointed at before, the attack a couple weeks back or whenever it was brought down thousands of services all across the East Coast and large parts of Europe.
All that from several guys hidden away somewhere flooding servers with WAAAAY more requests than what they were built to deal with it. So you're thinking "Well build them to deal with it" right? Things aren't that simple I'm afraid.
There are some people in this world if they want something bad enough, they will do anything for it. Cyber criminals are exactly that.Comment

Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
Because PSN does not hinder my ability to do other things. I can still play games, watch movies etc. If online doesn't work in Battlefield I cant play the game. Yes I can go play other games while it is not working, but that is not the point. If I want to play The Witcher right now, I can. If I wan to play The Show right now, I can. If I want to play Battlefield Online, I can't. I paid just as much money for the other games, so why should my expectations be any different.
I usually chose to stay away from online games just for this reason. It does not make me narrow minded, I am not saying it is a bad game or that others shouldn't play it, like you two are doing. You both are basically saying if I don't like an online game then I should just never go online at all? It's ridiculous. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

I didn't mean to come across insulting, sorry. But the point you make above goes to show that it seems to me you really don't understand that it's not very easy to defend against DDoS attacks.

I understand how these attacks work, I worked in the security field for a very long time. I am not blaming EA or Battlefield for that matter. I am just simply stating that I do not like online gaming for just this reason. I don't buy these games as a normal course of my gaming habits, just for this reason. I am not attacking the genre, the company or players of the game. I am sure that when I can play the game, I will continue to enjoy it. But for a matter of personal preference I most likely wont buy another online game.
This does not mean I should stop using the internet as a whole, or that I don't understand how things work. It is an opinion and a preference, for which I should not be insulted for or to be "talked to" in a condescending way.Last edited by Bullit; 10-30-2016, 09:49 AM.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
Your original post came across as a post of frustration and it appeared as if you were trying to blame EA (And other developers) for the issues that were occurring.
You've clarified that now, that's fine. But don't feel as if I or Candyman was attacking you. There is no tone to our voices in these posts.Comment

Finally had my first 40 kill conquest match thanks to the Rigotti Factory
Something about conquest mode is just so unique and chaotic that it's just hard to put down even tho I love domination mode

Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
Can't "blame" EA for being attacked by DDoS.
Can be frustrated the product you paid EA for doesn't work.
I think most of us here understand what happens when servers are hit with these attacks. And its not EA's fault a group of *******s choose EA as their target, or the DNS server they're associated with.
That doesn't mean paying customers of EA games, Xbox Love, PS Plus can't be upset with the fact that the services doesn't work.
Not going "entitled gamer" because I'm the furthest from that. But the point is you pay for something, it should work. Just as much as it isn't EA, Microsoft or Sony's fault, it isn't the consumers fault. So telling someone they shouldn't be upset because it isn't anyone's fault is kind of bogus. And completely avoiding being online because these attacks are possible...is apples to oranges.
All Bullit said was this is the reason he doesn't buy multiplayer games. Not sure why he wouldn't have every right to feel that way. Its legitimate. I am just as pissed this happens, but it isn't enough to stop me from buying and playing games online. Regardless, my opinion has nothing to do with his and negates nothing.

I'm in on PS4I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
Haven't checked today, I'll be on much later this after / early evening. Hopefully it's running smooth by then.
Yesterday there were around 7 of us and it was running pretty bad. Must've been this attack or something.Comment
