Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
Dice has completely missed the boat on weapons and warfare in this game. I can't wait for Battlefield Civil War. Everyone will be running full speed with handheld Gatling Guns and Billinghurst Requa Batteries.
Honestly, this is a World War Two game. I have no idea why they decided to go full blown fantasy with World War One. I don't think anybody would have been judgemental on having a new WW2 game. BF1 is a baffling mixture of historical inaccuracies for the sake of run and gun gameplay for millennials. Not saying it's not fun, but it could have been so much more than this.Last edited by Vni; 09-08-2016, 04:50 AM.Comment

More than what? They really didn't give us a whole lot in the beta and obviously left most out of what will be in release.
I get what you're saying about too many automatic weapons for the WWI era but BF has never been touted as an exact replica.

Man we tore it up last night though, at one point it felt like we ran and won about 7 or so straight matches.
Yea it felt silly running around in what's supposed to be World War One with a scoped MG15 n.A. (I used Suppressor not the light infantry one). BTW for those wondering about the name, Suppressor means it suppresses enemies because it has 200 rounds not 100 like the light infantry one, it also has a bi pod if ya wanna use it. It's not a suppressed muzzle like I initially read & thought hehe.
First game with that beast and I dropped like 44 kills or so. It felt like I was playing BF4 lol.
Them incendiary trip wires are hilariously fun to use as well.
I'm not going to take the weapon choices too seriously, but it might as well have been WWII we're playing heh. Besides, the way modern gamers play this game throws all WWI logic out the window. We got guys running amuck all over the field of battle lol.
I think that last stretch before we logged off was the best Battlefield experience I've had in about a year or so.
Think it was Gut, Rez, Seasprite, his buddy Avon, and myself. Six & Koolie were running with us for a stretch as well.Comment

For a history junkie I could see the letdown. For myself, as a hardcore BFer, I love the shizz out of this masterpiece of a game, I mean beta.Comment

But I'm with you, man. Even with what little they showed us, this is shaping up to be one of the best BF games in the series. Its certainly the most fun, IMO.

I'm still hesitant about the ton of snipers and DMR type rifles.
Feels like Sniper Elite on steroids at times...to me at least.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Totally agree with you. I'm not sure if I'm just doubting my skill, but I am a terrible sniper. TERRIBLE. But during the beta, I felt pretty beast. There were lots of headshots that I couldn't believe I did.#HeatNation

Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
Sniping is definitely a step lower in difficulty than in previous BF titles. I very rarely snipe in BF3 or BF4. Not due to any particular aversion other than I preferred to play to my strengths. In this beta, however, it ended up being my strongest class. We'll see how they change the classes come the final release.
And JNES is right; a team of snipers won't have much success, especially in CQC (maps less open than Sinai).Comment

Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
To get more into the WWI spirit, I kind of hope they add a "tug-of-war" type game mode. The essential idea would involve a map with each team starting on an opposite side, in a trench no less. Then you have a series of trenches that act as markers and the goal is, by the end of the game, to get closer to your enemy's starting base/trench, or at least capture more points along the way. In theory the teams would sort of stalemate in the middle and you'd really have to struggle to win those middle trenches. I think it would feel much like WWI while still being fun to play.
I'd probably prefer it if players could only spawn on their base, which means dying in the middle would provide a real consequence. Of course medics can still revive and all that, and it would give them a realized sense of purpose (after there was none in the beta).
I'm not sure if they've ever done a mode like this before, but I was thinking that Conquest itself doesn't feel like a battle in WWI. I don't think they should remove Conquest as it is, other than going back to the original ticket system, but since this game is supposed to be a WWI-era title, it should offer at least some gameplay inspired by it.Comment

Re: Battlefield 1 (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
My only real request, which seems to be overwhelming, is the death sounds are really too damn real and frightening. DICE needs to turn that down 10 notches or completely off.Comment
