Knowing Activision, you're probably 100% right. Someone else mentioned Deadpool being the only retail remaster they had and I'm pretty sure they charged $60 for it. Maybe it was $50 but it wasn't less than that. And that game was nowhere near as popular or sold a fraction of what CoD 4 did.

Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered
I don't buy digital anymore unless I have to. Last gen on PS3 it was definitely worth it because I could download one game for both my wife and I since she games too. Not anymore. Plus, I have a data cap. Much easier installing games from a disc than having to download 50+ GB.
I also think you're being generous saying CoD 4 remaster is worth $60. It's a nine year old game.
I'm going to hold out that they will either sell this alone or an entire MW remastered trilogy. I have ZERO interest in the new game and I'm not buying into Activision's marketing scam.Comment

Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered
CoD4 still uses several AI controlled kill streak perks that are just garbage. They are no where near as bad as some of the garbage in more recent CoD games though.
Sorry, but having an AI controlled chopper lay waste to the map because you strung a few kills together is just ridiculous. Actually controlling a chopper and getting those kills yourself, like in Battlefield 4, can't be compared.Comment

Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered
Agree to disagree. CoD4 was great for it's time and was amazingly innovative then. But there are several shooters out today that destroy that game.

Thing about choppers in Cod4 is you learn how to avoid them. You can go stealth, you can hide in buildings. You adapt. It's just part of the chaos around you that you have to navigate in real time. That is what made the game so unique. It was instant chaos once you spawned. The best players rarely got killed by choppers because they had tactics for that situation.
If COD4 was a forgotten relic, the excitement for the remaster would not be so huge. But it is.There are tons of people who will buy IW just to have COD4. That's a fact. It could end up making IW one of the best selling COD games of all time. I am not sure how many other reissues could achieve that, but I am positive it would not be several.Comment

Plus, we were still able to control some of those kill streak rewards. They weren't all AI controlled.Comment

Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered
The only game that has captivated me the same way COD4 did was Bad Company 2.

Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered
After playing backwards compatible COD5WAW all weekend, I am extremely fired up for the remaster. WAW may have the best maps of any COD imo. And it still holds up in terms of the sonic chaos happening all around and the graphics. It's more fun than any FPS I have played in years.
The COD4 remaster could easily be the best FPS release of the year. That's kind of sad, really. But they really nailed the perfect formula with those two releases. Not too many perks, not too many killstreaks. Great gunplay.Comment

Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered
Yes, I should clarify - for Xbox. But it is, and it saved all my stats and level. It's really so fun. I hope they remaster it next because it's a fantastic game and still holds up. I could easily fire up Halo 5, or Overwatch and I prefer the old 360 port of WAW. Simply because the blend of competitive skill, immediacy into the action and the maps is still top notch. I'm a big fan of Halo 5, but the COD maps are just on another level. The atmosphere is also one of the best. The AI callouts and the sounds in general were just really well done.Comment

Re: COD 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered
You must have the game completely paid for by October 4th. You can then go into GameStop on the 5th and get your code.Comment
