Nope. Standard shooter controls. L2 to aim, R2 to shoot, square to reload.

Enjoying the game for the most part but the first person perspective kills the combat and shooting. It's bad imo. And Ethan runs like a damn turtle!!! Seriously!!! RUN!!!!

I love the first person, if it werent it wouldnt be as good. But I play in VR, they should have a 3rd person option for tv gaming.
But ya the running is brutal lol maybe ethan has an amputated leg and we just dont know lol

He's not a trained member of STARS he's just a average guy so I can see why the shooting is harder.

The last third of the game or so, before the very end, is a downer to me. Actual spoilers in the tag this time.

                      Re: Resident Evil 7

Finished RE VII. Took me just under 19 hours to complete on normal difficulty. Found 32/32 files, 18/20 bobble heads and 17/18 coins.

The visuals, atmosphere, immersion, music, sound effects, environments, etc. were all excellent and give you that old school RE feel. Exploration, item management, combining items, etc. were also excellent. Item placement is also great. Either very well hidden or in plain sight.

Story does make sense and all the earlier gaps get filled out by the end but two thirds in, completely fell apart for me. Won't say anymore than that.

When not in combat and simply just exploring, the gameplay is good. Combat against lesser enemies or one on one is also good. The boss fights though are a different story. Because of the first person perspective, it's aggravating and frustrating simply because you're fighting the camera/perspective more than the boss. In general, the boss fights themselves were disappointing and not what I was hoping for.

The "coin/weapon system" is a great idea but was horribly executed and simply not worth putting in the game. Those who finish the game will see why.

Puzzles were few and far between. The repeating "shadow" puzzles were horrible. Seriously, very bad. The other ones were just too damn simple. The "video tapes" were bad as well. Only one of them was real good and I actually enjoyed it. The others, not so much.

By far, definitely better than RE 5 and RE 6 and a step in the right direction for the franchise but really needs to get rid of the first person perspective because in a game like this, while it does add more tension and whatnot, when fighting bosses, it's just not any fun.

With all of that said, my enjoyment came from exploring, the atmosphere, locations, immersion, item management and seeing what was next. The combat especially the boss fights, not so much.

RE 7 is a combination of old school RE, RE Zero, RE 2/RE 3/The Evil Within, RE Revelations and RE 4. Basically, it's like a jack of all trades but master of none. Overall, an 8/10 for me personally.

I'm not quite at the end but nearing it. It's going to nerdy for my taste. It's all good I get people like zombie and sci-fi stuff but it kills it for me when it starts to take over and get repetitive. But ahwell still a quality game.

Friday the 13th will be more up my alley

Question for those who are deep into it:

I enjoy the game, but is the whole thing basically playing hide and seek? I can see that getting old quick.

                            Uhh... Yes and no.

It's hard to explain anything about this game without some bigger spoilers leaking into conversation.

Without spoiling anything story wise, there are a few times that's setup for you to hide rather than seek but in terms of what's going on at the time, it makes sense. Other than those few times, I never hid or felt the need to do so. Overall, maybe an hour and probably less in my entire play time.

It's definitely NOT a Clock Tower.
