Re: God of War 4
I just started this weekend (slow sports weekend!), about 3-4 hours into it. I stink at fighting large hordes of enemies and I don't have a good handle on the optimal way to approach the tougher enemies, but getting used to the controls at least. The game looks incredible and has a bit of an "Uncharted" feel to it, which I dig.
I'm looking forward to getting better at wailing on groups of monsters, though - I hate having to plink them from afar w/ axe throws, but for right now, that seems like my best strategy.Comment

Re: God of War 4
Glad I waited to replay it again. It's going to good to play at 4k60.
Just wish I made sure to save the file on a USB before I sold my PS4s. I was really disappointed when I found out, I only had older games I didn't play in years. I would have loved to play this game on the PS5 using the New Game plusComment

Re: God of War 4
I only beat the game once and did very little side stuff. Been meaning to play again and now with the ps5 patch it may be time to replay and try to do side stuff.Comment

Re: God of War 4
"God of War's Enhanced Performance Experience offers the following;
Syncs to 60 FPS
4K Checkerboard Resolution
2160p
There will also be an Original Performance Experience that can be selected at any time and will represent the PlayStation 4 'Favor Resolution' video graphics mode. This mode offers 4K Checkerboard Resolution synced up to 30 FPS."
I'll take upscale 4k 60Comment

Re: God of War 4
I feel I might have to check to see if I have it stored on another USB. I never really had issues with storage space on the PS4 and I usually just deleted game installations. I still had save files from games I played years prior to that, so I know I wouldn't just delete it.Comment

Re: God of War 4
Outside of the load time improvements can we get the PS5 boost while keeping the game on an external HDD? Or does it have to be on the SSD? With space being a premium I’d prefer to keep it on the HDD. My son might play it and I may replay it as well.Comment

Re: God of War 4
I just finished my Days Gone PS5 NG+ playthrough and it was great. Game was smooth as butter and just a joy. I'm jumping into Jedi Fallen order next and right after I'll run through God of War again. I'm not much of a tech person as far as resolution and frames and all that stuff, I just know a good looking game. I jumped into an Uncharted 4 save on my Pro fooling around waiting on my wife to get dressed and it's crazy how much the 30 FPS stood out. Game still looks great but after a few months of 60 FPS it really stands out. Anyway, cant wait to get back into GOW. Outside of The Show there really isn't much on my PS5 radar right now.

Re: God of War 4
I've never played a God of War game. Snagged this thanks to the PS+ collection and now with this new patch, I'm definitely itching to play it. I'm still in Act 1 in Ghost of Tsushima after about 20 hours...I have no clue when I'm going to finish this game lol. But once I do, God of War is my next Playstation game that I'll play for sure.Comment

Re: God of War 4
OK, so.....haven't posted any follow-ups because I got consumed with this game and have now more-or-less finished most of what there is to do in the game. I actually finished the main story a week or so ago, but have spent the past week going insane....(see spoiler)Spoilerdying 500 times trying to beat the *(^#! Valkyrie Queen...I swear I tried for a week straight for multiple hours a night without any progress. I finally decided to go back through the optional worlds to max out my gear and I just barely beat her at a very low level 9, whereas at a high-level 7 and mid/high level 8, I wasn't even coming close. I know there are people that can ace her w/ no damage at like level 1, but I have no idea what planet those people are from. I could easily have been another level higher and the fight still would have been nip-and-tuck. There's no way to be perfect and I don't have the reflexes/stick skills of a teenager any more. But finally beating her (with my last 2mm of health remaining) was pretty relieving, because I thought it was basically impossible. Hardest video game foe I've bested since probably Mike Tyson in the original Tyson's Punch-Out. Although beating Tyson will always be my ultimate video game accomplishment....
Great game. I am not a fan at all of "Souls" games, having spent more time than I cared to on the original "Dark Souls", and while the combat of God of War is clearly inspired by the Souls games, it's a lot more fun and the game itself is a lot more fun than any of the Souls game (in my opinion, of course). It can be frustrating but, until the post-game anyway, it's not impossible (even though some fights seem that way at first). There's also craft and quality and a narrative flow, so that helped keep me interested enough to keep improving. If I didn't have a backlog of 80 other games I want to dip into, I'd definitely consider doing New Game +, because it was enough fun to warrant it. I rarely see the point in New Game + but I can see where this one would be fun to try to get the best armor sets and really unleash the possibilities of combat, play with different builds, etc.
Great game, though.Comment
