Criticisms aside, I think it's pretty bogus that this game isn't on xbox.

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
It’s not button mashing at all. It’s very similar to Arkham. Sure you can get by button mashing but you’re not exactly playing the right way if you are. Combat is extremely fluid. Especially when you start working in all your gadgets.Comment

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Compared to other games it's button mashing because of how many strikes are based off of square and how often you dodge. I didn't say it was spastic incoherent button mashing.Comment

It’s a superhero game. It’s pretty much the standard fighting mechanics.Comment

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Note that I haven't played the game yet and I'm not trying to dismiss anyone who thinks how marvelous it is so far. I just think others are allowed to have a differing opinion. I've only really seen one side of impressions in this thread so far and I certainly wouldn't want to pick this one up only to be underwhelmed. Dave's comments keep me levelheaded going into my investment, and that is a good thing.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Of course people are allowed to have opinions. Like I said I was worried this game would feel exactly like Arkham after watching game play. I knew exactly what the combat would be like. Playing as spidey makes it much more in depth. I don’t feel like I’m ever even close to button mashing. If you are you’re probably hitting a ton more buttons than you have to.
As far as GOTY I have no idea. It will probably be up there I’m guessing. The attention to detail in the city alone is probably enough to put it in contention.Last edited by ricky24; 09-08-2018, 07:43 PM.Comment

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Combat is exactly like Arkham and games similar to it.
In Assassin's Creed, Arkham, Mordor, square is the primary action button.
Then there's a Dodge or counter button which you can use to avoid getting hit.
And then there's other buttons and combos that allow for other moves.
Not sure I understand how that's different. Even in God of War, square is the defacto button to get things done (edit. I think it was actually R1. Been a while). It always is in action games.

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Just having a switch mechanic for melee in God of War added all kinds of variety. Also you get multiple ways to attack, and they can all work together. I couldn't really get into assassins creed, Arkham, or Mordor. I played Mordor a little bit, the other two I couldn't handle much gameplay at all.
If anyone is on the fence I'd recommend the game, I'd probably give it 8. It might the second best ps4 game I've played that released in 2018.
I don't think it's gonna have much replayability, but it's fun enough. It's much better than other games I've bought at release.Comment

Spider-Man needs an axe! I'm kidding.

Found MSG. Thought about catching a Knick game, but then Pete remembered Porzingis was still out so he wanted no part of that.

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
I'm at 47% but was at 25% when I started my 12 hour gaming session today. I'm definitely enjoying the game overall. As of right now, looking like and 8.5/10 or a 9.0/10 depending on how the story plays out.Comment

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
While I don't think that Spider Man should be or will be game of the year, it's an easy contender simply because of the very weak year. For me, it will most likely be a top 5 game for the year out of 12 to 15 games that im most likely going to play but I do have a few negatives for the game.
Since there's stealth in the game, I find it weird that there's no crouch button. The environmental attacks should have been a combination press of R1 and L1 instead of holding them down. At times, it takes too long to pull off the attack. Not a fan that some gadget upgrades are connected to the challenges tokens in which you must complete challenges in combat in order to gain tokens which are then used for upgrading gadgets. It reminds me of Just Cause 3 where you had to complete challenges to gain "gears" and use them to upgrade certain gadgets.
47% overall completion and still a lot of "locked" content on the world map. Kind of wish everything was revealed already because im the type that once the story is done, the game is done.
Despite my few negatives, game is a lot of fun to play. 23 hours in 2 days proves it. LOL. If it wasn't, I wouldn't have played that much in such a short amount of time.
The Best Buy code is via email. I had mine by the time I got home yesterday with the game which was maybe 30 minutes after picking it up.Comment

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Making more progress tonight. I'm 29% through, according to the save file on the main menu.
I'm in the middle of the first night, just finished theSpoilerFisk estate auction
Meanwhile, I've since knocked out two side missions, unscrambled every tower in the game, collected all 55 backpacks, taken a picture of every landmark, and stopped five crimes in every part of the city. So other than hideouts and some of the stuff that I still have yet to unlock until I progress further in the story, I have quite a bit of the side stuff finished.
