I've been playing this off and on all weekend and I have to say that it's amazing. I'm not even that big of a fan of open world games but this one is great. There's enough side missions to where they don't feel too repetitive and I haven't really gotten that "there's too much stuff to do so I feel overwhelmed" feeling like I do sometimes with other open world games.

Combat is definitely more than a button masher. You can probably survive (at least early on) with the basics but the deeper you get into the game the stronger the goons become and of course you get more options so if you really want to work them over in an efficient manner, then there some skill required. Like someone else said, combat can sort of be what you make of it but to me it's right there with the Arkham series and Sleeping Dogs as some of my favorite mechanics in any video game.

This is pretty much exactly what I expect out of a AAA video game, if not more. If you're a Spider-man fan it's a must own.

For me - the key to really acing each combat encounter is to maintain air as much as you can and the additional moves you can unlock bolster that tactic.

Somebody had said earlier they're having trouble getting time to use the environmental objects to throw - jump up in the air and then do it.

Is anyone like, not having fun with this game? Serious question, because I feel like this is the best game ive ever played in AWHILE.

I have to agree with you, for me, this is really one of the best games ever played.So many thing to do, and just the satisfaction of beating down criminals on all the side missions knowing I'm still 16% finish with the story giving this game some major replayabilty. I can play this game forever without getting bored and I cant say that for many games at all.

Yeah I love getting guys in the air then throwing stuff before I land.

Some of the gadgets and suit powers definitely feel OP but we are controlling a super hero so as far as I’m concerned we should be OP.

What suit powers and gadgets are you guys running with? All I've used so far is the Web Blossom and traditional shooters. I keep forgetting about the extra gadgets while I'm fighting.

Web Blossom has been my primary choice (at least for now since I’m not that far into the game) - I’ll change things up depending on bonus objectives, especially during any Fisk Hideout.

You nailed it...the longer you can stay in the air, the better.

Although, I really enjoy webbing an enemy and slinging them around in a circle.

The extra bonuses for combat can be conflicting for me.


I have more fun when I do whatever I want, but then I also want those sweet bonus tokens for completing each objective!

I'm glad I'm never aware enough to see them in the middle of combat. I only realize it after I'm done.

That was me until I figured out how to bring up the objectives during combat.

I'm going to stop doing that now and just enjoy myself.

Not that I'm not having fun. I'm having a blast with this game. But trying to dodge underneath 3 times instead of just web swinging into a guy can make it feel a bit more grindy.

Game is solid but I'm somewhat disappointed in the citizen interaction/behavior. I guess it only suffers because of my high expectations but I was expecting more of a bustling, busy city with citizens all doing their own thing or going places on this gen of consoles. It just seems like the citizens are there visually but kind of brain dead. I can only imagine if the citizens had A.I. similar to that in Watch dogs 1/2, GTA, with the ability to interact with them similar to watchdogs 2 with gestures. That's something to look forward to in Spiderman 2 hopefully. Swinging, story(12% into it), and combat is excellent though..

Compared to the last Spider-Man game, this city and population are absolutely incredible.

That's what I've been using. I switched to web blossom from the moment I unlocked it. It's a life saver for the moments I get into trouble or get in over my head. Takes out a ton of enemies by sticking them to walls or the ground, and gives me a breather while the rest of the enemies recover.

I may try out some of the other suit powers at some point, but web blossom is probably going to be my primary the entire game.

For suit mods, I gave Battle Tech, to gain extra focus from gadget attacks, Long Range Scanner, which I equipped early on, but now that I have all items collected, I'll probably dump that for something else, and Ballistic Inserts as I tend to get shot quite a few times in battles if there are more than 5 gunmen/rocket launchers at once.

I'm thinking either Scavenger (finishers regenerate bonus gadget refills), Webbed Striker (web attacks generate more Focus) or Kinetic Power Cells (increases the rate Focus generates) to replace Long Range Scanner with.

For gadgets, I almost exclusively use web shooters. Though I do need to branch out a little bit. The Impact Web, Electric Web and Web Bombs are fun, I just never think to use them in battle.
