Re: The end of ea sports ,sub par games
EA and VC suck when it comes to basketball.
EA Big happens to make games that are very fun to play. Very, very polished games with great gameplay.Comment

Re: The end of ea sports ,sub par games
EA sports doesn't market their games to anyone that will ever read this post. They will never go out of business because their titles are always MORE than advanced and polished enough for the casual mass market. Thats where the real money is at..
IMO, anyone who thinks that any title besides NHL2k5 is "hands-down" better than its counterpart hasn't given both games an honest chance. Personally, I have my preferences, but the games are all fairly close..each having unique features, and annoying glitches.
Quality-wise, I think EACanada works just as hard as VC in trying to implement innovative gameplay features (MVP, Live) but the folks aver at Tiburon (Madden, NCAA, Nascar) seem to be too afraid of alienating the mammoth Madden fanbase to change the formula and implement REAL improvements.
Anyway, EASports won't be filing for bankruptcy anytime soon, trust me on this. Don't be surprised to see the supposedly "false" rumors of a players union buyout by EA come to fruition....
McCoys picks...
Football-2K5
Basketball-Live
Baseball-ASB
Hockey-2K5
College football-none
College Basketall-March Madness (usually LOVE CH, but this season, based on media, I'm going with MM)
Nascar- Nascar Heat

Re: The end of ea sports ,sub par games
Sega(or any other company) will have to surprise the market in the way that Sony did back in 96 when they went to polygons completely with Gameday thus leading to the cancelation of Madden 96. Someone must come up with some totally revolutionary new graphics or physics engine or A.I. program that eclipses even the best games in other genres. Of course EA will quickly copy it, but at least that will force EA to go all out and not play it safe.Jordan Mychal Lemos
@crypticjordan
Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

The only problem I see with MVP, besides the lefty glitch and lack of CPU steals is the difficulty in turning double plays. Too often the man going to second will knock the 2nd baseman (or short stop) over and this blows the double play. maybe someone can give me a tip on how to prevent this because it is annoying!!
The problems with ESPN are as follows--
1. too many poor throws to first base. this must happen atleast once or twice a game. the infielder will grab a routine ground ball and make a bad throw to first and this causes the runner to be safe.
2. the hit and run simply does not work properly in ESPN. this is a huge part of baseball strategy! the problem is this... when you have a man on first and you call a hit and run, the guy covering second just "JOGS" over to second and this causes you not to be able to hit the ball through the gap thats created by the guy running to second! you see in real baseball.... when a man on first makes a break for second (like he`s going to steal) it forces the short stop or the second baseman to come over and cover second. in ESPN the 2nd baseman and/or shortstop moves too damn slow for the hit and run to work! and as a result you can NEVER hit the ball through that gap thats caused by the man on first breaking for second. But in MVP it works perfectly!
3. hitting tendencys are too difficult to pickup. their really are`nt any situations that come up when you should adjust the position of your fielders because the hitting tendencys are not exactly accurate. what i mean is this.... when you have a right handed batter, their should be a tendency for the ball to get hit to the left and its the opposite when you have a lefty at bat. but in ESPN this is not the case. you`re better off to just leave your fielders where they are and never shift them. this is okay in theory but its not exactly realistic.
4. you should be able to aim your hit. like in MVP you can try to hit the ball to the left or right. but in ESPN their is no way to do this that i`m aware of. I guarantee you that major league players are trying to hit the ball to a certain spot on the field or atleast in a certain direction. this is just another thing that makes MVP even more realistic than ESPN.
5. I think the pitching meter in MVP is much more intuitive than ESPN`s pitching meters. it just seems like its up to the player to make good pitches rather than just adjusting to the confidence meter and effort meters of ESPN.
I suppose the other issues I have with ESPN are online issues but those probably can`t be resolved... so whats the point in complaining about them?
sorry to take this topic a bit further but without question MVP plays a much better game of baseball than ESPN does. however they`re both good games and both are alot of fun to play!Last edited by KillRoy; 10-24-2004, 02:10 AM.Comment
