I pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition and had no difficulties finding the Dappled Black Thoroughbred in the stables once they unlocked, but for the life of me, I can't find the War Horse anywhere. Any luck from anyone else?

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Well I sorta accidentally killed my horse today. I was approaching a coach robbery & I got off my horse to help. Only problem was it was near a railroad track. I heard a train coming but wasn't paying attention to where my horse was. I then heard a thud & looked over to see my horse laying dead on the ground. On behalf of my defense it was night time. I did salvage the saddle as it had my belongings. No way was I walking all the way back to camp with my saddle in hand. So I waited for the first poor soul to ride by & stole his horse. All I'll say is he didn't go quietly.
I always have a few horse revives on me just in case I slip up like this.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
This game is much more complex than the first one, i felt very overwhelmed by the controls, the camp and having no clue how to upgrade (the game doesn't explain very well), the new duelling style (again i feel the game does not explain very well).
Same goes for the stamina and health, and the cores etc.
It also feels different than part 1, i feel part 1 was a bit more fluid, this one is much deeper.
Having said that, after a few days of playing this game i'm now used to it and enjoyed it a lot.
I find myself going to the far left side of the map doing some quest, then meeting a stranger who needs a ride all the way to the right side of the map.
I can't seem to get anything done other than just roaming around, which is fine by me.
I'm really going to take my time on this.
In the meantime i have done most of the camp upgrades and will now focus on the hunting.
Sofar i have ruined a lot of pelts by using the wrong weapons.
Will now take a slower approach and go for some pristine pelts so that i can craft some better satchels.
One small thing i do not like : the music. In my opinion it was a lot better in the first part, it really added to the game then whereas now i hardly notice it. Could have done a better job on that part.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Hope this helps clear up a bit about the trapper's sell prices:
I shot a perfect whitetail buck, immediately took it to the trapper (which I have to say is becoming one of my most visited spots on the map), and he offered me $10 for it. Without taking that, I then skinned it and and took the pelt and carcass (still perfect) separately to him. He was giving $5 for the carcass, $1.05 for the antlers, $3 in all for the meat, and $3.25 for the pelt.
You do the math. It's more if you skin it first, and I'm not sure why that is. It's not really enough to make a huge difference (plus you can only carry one carcass as opposed to a whole bunch of pelts), but it is there.
BTW, found my new favorite view to hunt in (and yes, that's the deer I killed):
Kinda tough to play shootouts from there because I play in 3rd person and switching to it is a pain (tap touchpad + D-pad down) but it's great for hunting. Also allows me an extra sense of immersion I don't want in shootouts without having to change an option setting - the hit/kill markers do not appear in this view even when the option is enabled. I like having those turned on because this is still a video game and I'm still outnumbered like 50-1 in shootouts, but I'm trying to play hunting as realistically as possible so limited info is fine there. I hunted the Legendary Fox from this view and didn't realize I'd killed it (or even hit it) until well after my 2nd shot and it stopped moving.Last edited by bcruise; 10-31-2018, 06:36 AM. Reason: If you read that before my edit, read it again - the whole opinion changed when I added the carcass.Comment

I don't know, does seem odd that there's no reward for carrying the whole carcass and just negatives.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Only thing I can think of is the butchers in town pay more for a full carcass than a trapperbwould and that's why it would be worth it. Seems strange that R* would not have a reason to do both ways.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
This game is pretty awesome. I was collecting bounties and had to collect from an ole gal who lived on a farm. Her and her boyfriend weren't too eager to pay up so I decided to give them something to remember me by.
It was night time so I went into their fence where all the cows were at and was going to make them into hamburger. I pulled out my sawed-off shotgun and held it to a sleeping cows head and then I hesitated and had a "is this who I really want to be?" moment. Then I put my gun away and looked up just in time for a charging bull to plow me over.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Regarding HDR, it seems like a popular opinion is to turn it off. It's not true HDR which is pretty unexpected. A good analysis of it in that video. He says on the One X, but it's all versions.Comment

DF said it doesn’t hurt to turn it on it’s just not doing exactly what it should. I personally feel it looks better with it on. I know it’s not great hdr implementation but it still looks more realistic color wise to me. When I turn it off it looks too cartoony.Comment
