More specifically, once you get a mission from John Marston, you're on track to get to the fishing rod. You have to do a couple missions with him (all of which are easy and short) and then you'll get a mission after that during which you unlock fishing.

Funny enough.....heading back to camp and right on the river that is right near the burned down town...I saw a guy fishing. I simply wanted to rob him. He would not give in so I hog tied him. Took his fishing rod then I cut him loose....he then hit me with a left hook to the jaw.....not smart. I had my hunting knife on me and killed him. Dumped him in the river....no witnesses. Got my fishing rod.

Lmao, my brother tried to do this the other day but said the game wouldn't let him take the fishing rod. He's going to be so disappointed when he hears about this.

Do you think there could be a bug/glitch in the game that keeping you from gaining weight? I haven't gotten that far along in the game to notice this much.

I've read various tips this morning on how to increase it. Gonna try everything I can to fix it later today. Will report anything that works.

I didn't have the issue for a while.

Was underweight, got back to fair weight. I made sure to eat a few actual meals each day be it from the stew at camp, from a saloon, or killing an animal and cooking it. I don't really run much outside of missions requiring it. My pace is very slow and I walk everywhere even when hunting. I'm not sure how much, if any, your activity on your feet affects your weight, but I got it back and wouldn't be surprised if my lack of running around had something to do with putting weight back on given the depth of everything in game.

My under weight issue started when I left my cold weather outfit on the whole next day+ after getting caught in a rainstorm one night. Not sure if that sped up the loss or not.

Guys try some of my suggestions for HDR.

For some TVs you may need to increase or decrease the contrast and color/saturation, adjust black levels, use color and contrast enhancing options.

Make sure your Brightness is at max and your contrast is between 95-100

For Samsung's depending on how much color you like set it to 60 and incense or decrease.

For Sony's particularly the X900 series you can set color between 65-80 because it's hard to oversaturate.

Set any color enhancement feature to high, then medium, then low and choose what looks best to you.

Set black levels and contrast enhancing ti medium or high.

For Xbox One X or One make sure HDR is checked in the picture settings or the picture will be washed out.

Don't play in game mode if you want good colors, play in movie or custom. I play on a edited setting cinema pro mode on my XBR X900E

Am I missing something? I honestly don't see an option to check or uncheck HDR in the game. I'm only able to increase or decrease the HDR brightness. I'm playing on the Xbox One X and I have a Samsung KS8000 tv.

The option to enable hdr is in the xbox display settings. I only mentioned it in the case of someone who didn't set it up properly in console.

Oh okay thanks. Sorry for all of the stupid questions. RDR2 is the only game I really play on the Xbox and I've never really gotten into changing and system settings. Thanks again.

One more stupid question. Am I able to turn off HDR specifically for this game?

From what I've read, not on the XBOX.


RDR2 on the PS4 has an option to turn off HDR. I don't know why the XBOX doesn't have this option.

How’s do you see if you’re underweight? Just curious because after about 30 hours I don’t think I am, so may be able to lend a hand.

Of course I should just check my Guide I bought but that thing is like an encyclopedia!

I spent way too much time calibrating my ks8000 for hdr. I’m not gonna mess with it for one game. Hopefully it’s a quick fix.

Excuse my last response lol, had a few errors.

No, you can try and turn it off for the hdmi input the console is on, but that's not any quicker than doing it in the console settings.

Is your KS setup right? meaning is hdmi uhd color is on for the hdmi input the xbox is in?

You could also see if the hdr+ option in special viewing modes helps. Do this with hdr on and off to see if it makes a difference.

Dynamic contrast also makes colors pop a bit more. I found myself setting it to medium or high for certain games.

I had to move from gaming on my KS8000 in bedroom to my X900E in my man cave/game room.

So, I was minding my own business when a stranger needed help on the side of the road. He proceeds to steal my horse, Rick. In an attempt to get my house back, I aimed for the culprit but shot my horse instead. Shot the crook in the back of the head with no remorse. I'm legitimately sad that I lost my horse.
