Sad to say it, but there are probably a lot of kids that think westerns aren't "cool." Those kids are what I like to call WRONG.#LFC

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I will be 21 in 2 months, graduating class of 2016, and a lot of friends played the original Red Dead, so there definitely is an audience in high schools. Heck, my sister is in high school and she says all the guys have talked about it to further validate the point.
However, it doesnt get any lower than that. I have a cousin who is 14 with a PS4, and all he plays is 2K and Fortnite. Same with his brother who is just a year younger. So it all depends on how much you game id say.
If you game a lot, youve played RDR2. If you dont, youre missing out on great games like this, Spider-man, and future greats like Days Gone and Division 2. Add in God of War to that, although ive never played that one yet.PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Damn, guys. Let kids play and enjoy what they want. Some of sound like a bunch of cranky old men.
And for the record. I’m an adult that found RDR2 boring and a chore to push through.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
This gave me a chuckle. I am a 51 year old life longish gamer and felt the exact same way. I fear speaking out of fear of being damned to say out loud that RDR2 is exactly what you found, "boring and a chore to push through." Spiderman, God of War, and Far Cry 5 gave me a lot more enjoyment with recent gaming experiences. To each their own of all ages.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I bought this game a couple months ago but I hadn't started it yet. Then when I was about to my tv gave out on me so I was going to wait to start it until I got a new TV. So I just got my new 4K TV the other day and I started the game last night and holy smokes this game looks awesome and I'm on a regular ps4.
I finished chapter 1 and then cut it off but I'm really digging the game so far. I'm not even into westerns but I played the first Red Dead and loved it so here I am again lol. So far so good!

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
well I finally finished this for the first time last night and while I get why its not for everyone for me easily ranks top 5 of all time. In general I'm not into open world games that much as I typically just go from point A to point B and do the quest. The world and everything about it was so well done it definitely spoiled me on open world games in the future. I don't see how I will not go back to my just go from point A to point B mindset as I'll be comparing everything to this.
I also generally get tired of games around the 20 to 30 hour mark and my biggest gripe of this game was that I don't know how many hours I played. I'm not sure when or if I will play through it again since its such a long game. It took me about about half way through the game to get the hang of how to get perfect pelts and it became easier once I got the the buck trinket. I think the way the missions was done they all felt different and not just the same exact thing so that's the main reason why I didn't lose interest. When I look back on all the chapters they all had a different fell to them.
I'm not really into the collectables of any game and now that I'm done with the story I don't see me spending a bunch of hours to find them. If their wasn't so many of them I might give it a shot. The challenges was another thing was just way to time consuming to do for me. The story tell they told when you add it with the first game is my fav in video game history.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

You're looking at it wrong. GTA V and RDR2 are not truly that similar. GTA has become ridiculously over the top and RDR2 has stayed more laid back and mature.
I think a way to look at it that we at OS may relate more to it with is that in my circle of friends my buddy and I are the two sports gamers because we play Madden and NHL together and also OOTP. To our other friends they would think like you and assume we also would play NBA 2k or Fifa more often, but the truth is I don't care for basketball really and soccer is fun to watch and play, but doesn't interest me long enough to play Fifa much.
Like you think those that would play GTA should like RDR is as false as our circle of friends thinking we like a lot of sports games so we should also like NBA 2k, Fifa, or whatever else is out there.
As far as the twitch part of the original comment, the kids want to play what the popular streamers are playing. That is why Apex, Fortnite, even CSGO, Dota 2, Rainbow Six, etc. remain top played games. There are more games out there the twitch crowds would enjoy, but to them a big part of the gaming experience is just playing what is the hot thing and being a part of that community while it is at its prime. They may like RDR2 as it is a R8 open world game like GTA, but they won't play it because it isn't the go to hot competitive game that everyone and their mothers is streaming.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
But I agree with those saying the game lags near the end. I feel like the game was a chapter or two, too long.
I've already brought this up in this thread, but I wish R* had gone in a different direction with this game. Instead of offering 8 chapters (including the 2 Epilogues), why not 3 or 4, but make your choices have real consequences to how the game ends.
Outside of what items are available for purchase, acting like a prime William Money doesn't change any of the cutscenes or storyline. Only at the end do you have a choice of some degree and even then, it's up to you and not based on previous actions.
I put my brain on hold for most of it, but I have to admit, I did get pulled out of the story at times when I'd commit several dastardly actions only to engage in a cutscene where Morgan is going off on Dutch about making immoral decisions and the need to be better people.
Just like in RDR1, one minute I'd tie someone to a railroad track just to watch them get run over. Then next minute, I'm telling a whore I can't sleep with her because I have morals.
I really hope for RDR3 (PS5/XB2), they stray from providing an epic story stuck on tracks, and give us an organic, branching storyline that's completely based off of your choices and actions.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I hate to bring this up, but it's news that I was checking updates for quite often. I thought no news was good news, but I finally stumbled upon it in a YouTube comment and apparently there were no articles on it.
This is from an old post prior to RDR 2's release.
Rockstar Grants Terminally Ill Gamer’s Wish To Play Red Dead Redemption 2
Jurian: “Sadly, I am in the last weeks of my life. My treatment is over. Since 2004 I have been fighting a rare, chronic disease named neurofibromatosis type 2, which causes many “benign” tumors to grow in my body. I’ve survived for long, but I am done now.”
“Since I was waiting with excitement for Red Dead Redemption 2, my father decided to contact the publisher, asking if they had a copy of the game preliminarily as exception. Rockstar Netherlands was willing to give it but didn’t have the clearance, so they contacted the headquarters who set me up with something nice very quickly. By the end of the week two employees from Rockstar Netherlands visited me, who gave me a private demonstration of the game.”
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Although expected and even more so inevitable, it's still incredibly saddening. I am relieved that he is no longer in pain though, and I am grateful that Rockstar literally presented him the opportunity of a lifetime to get his hands on this game before his passing.Last edited by Blzer; 03-14-2019, 02:58 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
for me it's the missions and all the yaking! too much yaking!!!! I skip as much as possible and find it grating. I would like the game more if it was more organic in terms of gameplay - the world is incredibly organic, but the missions are not. It would be more fun if the game was more like skyrim or oblivion - if I want to be a thief and famous bank-heister or just rob houses and hotels, or maybe an infamous gun-slinger - let me focus on being what I want to be.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Not surprised the game doesn't appeal to the teen crowd. Most of them want to play fast paced FPS. Whether it's Fornite or CoD. Riding on a horse for 5 minutes to get to a mission location isn't exactly appealing to teens with short attention spans.Comment
