I wonder if Rockstar will begin to support the RP scene more with the inevitable PC release or if we have to wait for GTA6.

With some big streamers returning to it GTA has been the #1 game on Twitch for a bit again all because of a single player mod allowing for RP that players have been using for years .

Interestingly enough, although I am playing out one specific character in RDR 2, I strongly role play with him more so than I would with any GTA character in that I am living his life a little more so.

I don't watch role plays so I don't know how much they differentiate from me in GTA, and I don't have a gaming PC to have tried any of the mods to see the exact difference from the actual game... but if I live-streamed my RDR 2 play, it would have that laid back "living the life" approach, outside of missions that is.

          Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

Some do that. FiveM is a whole another thing though. We're talking cops and robbers, pimps and [...], winners, losers, etc. Talented content creators and even more talented modders, adding multiplayer to the single player. Non-streamers having fun in the mix too.

Unfortunately that doesn't sell shark cards, so we can probably expect more of the GTA Online, rather than what is drawing eyeballs to Twitch.

Lirik had 80,000 people watching him yesterday.

SilentSentry is probably my favorite streamer, he does some amazing things w/ his voice work and the cinematic camera.

This is what he did, in real time, after being downed by a rival gang the other day:

Twitch is the world's leading video platform and community for gamers.

This next one is one of his characters, Lil' Squirt. He's a loser. Losing is hard for people in RP, it's hard for people to accept they can't win (police chases, etc).

Here's Squirt chasing a cat. This one has some language, so I'm going to wrap it in spoilers just so someone doesn't click a link not revealing it.

          Spoiler

Why was he chasing a cat? Another RPer who is new to this got the whole server jumping at every sight of a cat, because she spent the whole day looking for hers. This new streamer's normal thing on Twitch is to call scammers and keep them on the phone as long as possible w/ stories and stuff. So in a way, he roleplays already every day, lol. He's got a voice mod he uses to make him sound like an old woman, so Edna was born:

First they were in an accident. That's MiltonTPike as Kiki Chanel, trying in character to tell Edna what the command is to put on your seatbelt while they're being pursued (again, language)

          Spoiler

Followed by some of this hilarity.

This is just a couple clips, out of context, but I think you get the idea. It's amazing to watch, and over the last year I've watched more of this stuff than any TV show. Easily hundreds of hours of this stuff. It's enthralling when they really get stories going over months. Just browse GTA on Twitch if you ever want to see more. Anything labeled TFRP or NoPixel is RP, and probably most everything else.

Grand Theft Auto V is a vast open world game set in Los Santos, a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. The game blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story.

Interesting, i'm turning 50 this June and feel the same way.
I complete RDR1 100%, did all the missions, even the damn poker games just to get to 100%.

I started RDR2 and played it a lot when i was at home for 2 weeks due to a bad back.
After this i stopped playing, and can't get into it again.
Bought a new 4k hdr tv and tried again, just to look at the grahpics, it looks gorgeous, but i really don't feel getting into it again.

The hunting for pristine pelts, just not my cup of tea anymore.
I may go back in at some point and just do the missions, but can't see myself doing all the side stuff anymore.

Trying to get perfect pelts was one of my mine gripes as well. It did get better once I got the trinket from the legendary buck. Also once I tracked the animals and I could see their stars before I killed them I knew if it was 1* not to even kill them. I would just use red eye and that helped I still never got a perfect big animal like a moose or elk.

I went after the legendary pelts a couple weeks ago. I think I got about half of them, but then honestly got bored because it's all the same. You track and then the animal magically appears out of thin air.

Had a weird and funny experience with a random guy camping recently. Pretty sure all of them are rude and demand that you leave if you ride up to them. I saw smoke from a guy’s campfire so I rode up, he got mad fast and ordered me to leave, I just hit defuse and didn’t leave. Turned away for a few seconds towards his horse so unfortunately I didn’t see how it happened.

I hear him getting up, saying something, and pulling out his gun on me. As I’m turning towards him to take him down he yells. Turns out he’s on fire. Quickly died and his whole body ended up burning. Apparently he must’ve stepped/slipped on his own campfire as he was getting up. I don’t know if that’s meant to be able to happen but it was funny either way.

What a way to go. Poor guy should’ve stayed home.

Found another camper and thought it would be fun to sneak up on him and throw a stick of dynamite at him while he’s sitting at his campfire. Worked perfectly. Don’t think he expected dynamite to come flying at him out of nowhere. Finished the story and epilogue, just playing a bit still to have fun causing trouble.

Don’t click below if you’re still playing the story. A bit of thoughts on the story..

I think a couple of things come together as the story advances that end up making hunting a lot more fruitful, including better weapons, improved dead eye targeting, trinkets, etc. Also, I swear I end up seeing a higher frequency of perfect conditioned animals as the story advances a little past the first chapter or two. But maybe I was just lingering in areas not conducive to healthy animals at the start.

Sometimes I think back to the Oregon Trail days and how I could spend multiple hours just speeding through the rest of the game so I could get to the hunting portion. Amazing to think of how far we've come.

I finally finished the story and both epilogues.

Now I shall click all the spoiler tags.

Great writing and storytelling by Rockstar. I think taking my time and separating myself from both overwhelming positivity and overwhelming negativity about the game made things more enjoyable for me.

I don't know if I'll ever play through it again, but I would like to one day down the road. For now I'm moving on to the the Uncharted 4 DLC.

HEY!!! DLC my butt!!! Give Uncharted: The Lost Legacy the respect it deserves as it's easily better than Uncharted 4!!!!!

Seriously, it's an excellent game, best in the series finally surpassing Uncharted 2 and became my favorite in the series. It's everything I wanted Uncharted 4 to be but wasn't. After Uncharted 4, I was done with the series, was happy that it was going to be dead and buried but Lost Legacy brought me back and resurrected the franchise for me.

Do the random changes in music while riding around mean anything? I'd think after 90 hours I would know this by now, but never bothered to ask. There is one song in particular that seems to randomly come on.
