If I had to make a recommendation. Don't get in the mindset of being "invisible" like a sniper hiding in the bushes. The way camo works in the game you are not very hidden. So similar to a game like RB6, leaning and playing corners is key. So find cover, expose very little of yourself, THEN utilize your scope to land accurate shots.

Here is a small example of me doing just that. Me and my dad were playing some duos, he got taken out early, and I decided to challenge this pair. By utilizing leaning & the QBU w/ a 4x I was able to land effective shots while exposing very little to hit (except for the end where I spaz trying to finish his partner before the blue would get me).

Use the scopes & sniper rifles to scores kills with minimal fire, 1) Less noise means less of a chance people closing on your position 2) Scopes can end fights in 1 to 2 shots if you can hit the head shots. 3) Don't attempt to utilize them laying down like a real sniper lol, laying = no movement capabilities to avoid return fire.

I finally got a 6x + kar and saw an enemy in the open running for a house I was worried he'd see me so I went prone - was a bit too excited and shot him in the arse instead of going for the head - it was at about 125m away and the house was probably 150, maybe a touch more. Anyway I only hit him once and then he knew where I was and was a VERY skilled player.

I did hit him at least one more time but obviously after he used health - but he did exactly what you did w/ a 3 or 4x and a ump I think... it was very hard for me to see him - he actually had a hard time hitting me too because of his weapon, but I probably looked like a black/brown body on light brown/orange dirt, so easy to get an idea and pot shot me. I finally went down when I decided to try and move because spotting him was too hard and my plan was to copy him and get behind something and during that standing action I went out. lesson learned.

I did have some success since then sniping as I drove to the top of a mountain and went prone because I was MUCH further away and picked off 2 guys from about 300m away but then someone stood atop of me and got me execution style which startled the F out of me.

This game startles me much more than other games, it can't be that great of cardio-vascular health!

In any event I am enjoying this more than any other title in recent memory. It def has LEGS. I keep an eye out for sniper rifles but generally and embrasing what I have and adjusting accordingly. There is a def skill-gap between the top guys and the rest though, there are some hardcore mf'ers out there!

Watch some of the top players on twitch and be prepared to have your mind blown. Some of them are just incredible.

Dr. Disrespect is one of those guys although I haven't seen him playing that much lately. Shroud is another. They are two of my favorite streamers regardless of what they are playing.

Two sniper engagements I had last night.

1) Kar98 with a one tap head shot on first guy, attempted to use him as bait, but his guy spotted me. Then it was just a battle who could hit the sniper shot. My flick shot was on point!!!


2) The VSS is a monster if you can remain hidden. At this range you basically hear nothing but your getting tagged so you don't know which side of cover you should be on. This was a nice 3 piece in squads, with the flank at the end!

awesome, after your suggestions I had 2 matches in a row with sniper's found! I went #2 again on one of them and took your suggestion and leaned from cover - got 2 of 3 kills in one game with the M24 (wish I could have that every match) and 2 of 3 kills from the kar98 - both games had a headshot kill and a kill of over 200m away.

after the update I'm encountering rifles more - but it also introduced some weird behaviour/glitches.

Regarding the VSS, it's just too weak for me at my skill level - if I was getting more headshot accuracy it would be good, I've had it a few times and although it's fun I couldn't down peple after a few hits on them. Your comment about using downed guys as bait will be useful now as I had a rare encounter with what ended up being 5 guys including myself at about the midpoint in a match.

I was shooting at someone and hit him once, he then saw me but didn't engage because he had to spin around and battle someone else and I had them both in my sights - I killed the guy who killed the inital guy, then I went down to check out the bodies but there was an additional guy on a ridge that also witnessed the whole thing and took me out, shortly after that because I was witnessing him now, he actually got taken out when he tried to loot!

I had never seen that much action fairly early in a match other than right after the start where some people cluster - I usually stay away from those spots. So it was cool, but rare I think to see that many people in a relatively unassuming area of the map so early on.

got my first chicken dinner too. I'm terrible with names but it was the tropical map. I got 2 kills (probably should have had 4 I was damaging at least 3 other people and was surprised I won because the game didn't end on a kill?)

match before came 3rd but took out 2 people with the AWS and 4x with headshots - that gun is INSANE fun. furthered my longest kill distance to 327m

Overall I'm pretty happy getting the AK or M16, obviously they are good guns, but I'm doing a lot of damage with the mini (DMR) because of it's low sway - one thing I'm doing more of is driving a truck around finding guys, turning the truck sideways and using it as cover as I lean and pick some guys off - had a great gun battle that must have lasted 2-3 minutes with some dude until I finally won.

Having said that, I kind of suck - my K/D is around .5 and most games it's at least over 1 - usually in the 1.2-5 range - I realize this is different because i get killed so ofter quickly - but would like to at least be even - there are so many skilled players, and to that point, is there hackers? I looked at the leaderboard and see someone winning 11% of the time and has a K/D of over 6 ... like ???
I'm not sure that's possible, no matter how good you are - Phobia, what's your K/D, Win % and top 10% if you don't mind. Obviously I only have the 1 win, and top 10 as a % is pretty good around 10% (at least I think that's decent).

I've been lit up before with what seemed like eagle-eye which made me suspicious - although I've luckily headshot a guy driving a car without really aiming in 1 shot, so you never know.

I have no idea where my win % falls at. I've been playing PUBG for a while now and I'd say my KD falls normally around the 1.5 to 2.0 range and I have around 100 wins give or take. My best win was a 15 kill win, my worst win was a 0 kill win (2nd place died to gas lol), my highest rank on the leaderboard was 200th, and I'd say as a whole I'm middle of the pack in skill. In solos I can grind out a win a night if I really tried, in duos, and squads(which we mainly play) I can go months without a win because global squad skill is so much more important.

I wouldn't focus to much on the leaderboard and just enjoy the game as you are. That's really all that counts and where I like to leave it also. The last time I checked the leaderboards was this screen shot, which was Jan 2018 lol

the update added a LOT of dmr's and a bit more sniper's to vikendi which was in desperate need imo. To have such a large and open made with a total lack of those was noticeable and bad, so it's a welcome change.

Speaking of which I got an m24 and my first squeeze of the match was a headshot kill of someone driving the SUV at full speed. I got him from the coal mine tower while he was driving across the mountain on the other side of the valley/road. He sent me a mssg saying 'FK8ning awesome headshot man!' which I laughed - it was a decent amount of luck I only had a 2X scope and was surprised he was dead, so I watch the SUV slowly come to a stop after hitting a tree with a corpse behind hte wheel .... good times. I did clip that and will try to upload.

I'm getting a lot better, moved from a k/d of .49 to .64 now and the game just keeps getting better the more you play. I don't even need any other games as it's all I want to play atm and for the foreseeable future!

using cover and leaning is so huge especially mid-late game. I've also adapted a MUCH more aggressive approach after reading a few blogs about the game and realizing you may as well go major risk right away and if you survive you're much more likely to last later into the game.

There are also GREAT video's on youtube about leading targets and bullet drop.

The ballistics and art really seal the deal for me, it actually looks very similar to last of us MP which to me was one of, if not the best competitive MP game of all time to me.

I had a funny little moment tonight with the squad. I came back after going to the bathroom with my boys already having jumped. At this point, I'm far away, which meant I was forced to high chute if I wanted to make it to them. By the time I get close, one of my buddies is in an exchange with another player. I swoop down with the sneak attack

looks like alpha camp there is usually an m24 there from what I've seen.

I found a couple on vikendi recently but my last match I had it, tons of amo, the beryl and a 4x for the sniper and a 2x for the beryl, lots of health and lots of energy/pain killers, level 2 body and level 2 head, lots of time too, probably only 20% into the match. I saw a guy getting out of a balcony and was in a house with all doors shut. Can't get much better than that... I lined him up and as I was about to shoot I got completely lit up from behind. Some sob snuck up on me and wiped me out with all the best gear before I could even get a kill.

Stuff like that def makes you more paranoid.

Getting snipers are still rare enough for me that I generally just look for a decent optic for medium range, like a 3 or 4x, and do my best to at least secure an assault rifle. I'm warming at lot more recently to smg's because they out-gun most other guns in short + range. I've been killed a lot with the vector but prefer the g36 or whatever it's called, which is incredibly versatile and downs enemies quick.

My last match I only had the magnum type handgun on the original map - was going for the shelter but was beat out so I didn't try to compete there, found the gun in one of those outhouse looking things and actually killed a guy with the only machine gun in the game that isn't air dropped - the one with the big circular mag-can on top - after that I got 2 more kills with his gun before dying. so the flip side is you're never totally out of it, even if it seems the odds are totally against you.

Haven't played this game in MONTHS, got the itch to play because of the time of year (I'm a weird, nostalgic gamer like that and first started playing this around this time of year two years ago) just had a 5 kill, 2nd place match in my first match back.

Was playing very well and would have had a chance to win but I got stuck at the base of a hill in the last zone and died in the blue, with no chance to get back into the zone in time. Disappointing loss, but a good round overall.

Can't believe I've forgotten how freaking intense this game is, my blood is STILL pumping.
