I'm looking at the tvtropes page for "No swastika" and it's interesting. They mention a few movies and TV shows that censored themselves anyway. I wonder if they actually did try to get through it would they get stopped for being too cartoonish anyway. How is the "are video games art" conversation going in Germany? Apparently their ratings board holds the power and refuses to rate anything that is not "an explicit reference". I see why they just opt to scrap stuff altogether.

I posted a link to a video that went in further detail about the game being art issue and also what movies were allowed in Germany with the swastika and it no being censored. The reason movies were able to get away with it is that they brought it to court there and the court sided with the movie makers and set precedent for movies being included in the exceptions part of the precedent. Games have yet to push it to court to set that precedent for the gaming industry, which most see as a huge risk. I don't think its a huge deal, especially not to the point that I am boycotting a game because its company made a rational decision that they thought was best for their product and company.
