Less downtime than CoH. If you mixed Diablo and EQ, that's WoW. You're whooping something all the time, or you're on your way to your next quest. You can take a truckload of quests at the same time, so you can just roam and do whatever you want.

You're never lacking for direction the first 20 or 30 levels (and you level really fast). You're also not dependent upon a group very much, but if you do group it helps the xp flow.

CoH had a ton of down time. The game plays more like EverQuest or Dark Age of Camelot (more DAOC then EQ). There is down time in WoW, but not in the early levels. After level 10, you'll be resting a lot unless you have a healer with you, or a PoT (power over time) from a Pally.

Can you define "Down time"? Are you talking about the time it takes to level or the amount of time it takes you to take on various mobs?

Just asking, because I'm also interested in the differences between WoW and CoH.

Re: any World of Warcraft nerds out there?

Down time=how long you had to rest after defeating a mob that gives you decent xp. Down time can just be classified as "time sitting around waiting to fight again".

For me, I had no downtime up to 20, but that's because they made pets useful. As a hunter, I grabbed a bigass Bear for a pet and it held aggro nice and neat...I was able to absolutely rip through levels without much effort. With a good bow, I was peppering from afar while my bear just shredded it. A concentration-based pet heal was nice too (hold concentration for 7 seconds and the pet is practically full health).

I had a lot more action and fun in WoW, but I'm finding EQ2 to be a deeper game. The combos (Heroic Opportunities) in EQ2 really force the group to work together, and when you get a good group going, it's as fun as WoW or CoH at its best moments.

In both Beta phases I did a lot of group work towards level 20+. Whats nice about WoW is that you can solo and group.

As for downtime, TC you said it right. With Warriors it takes time to get life up, while with Mana Artists (mages, warlocks, priests, shamans) it takes forever to get your mana back up unless you had some PoT to get it back up quickly. What WoW should do is make a Bard or something that can play music and one of the songs he plays should be a Mana Song like it was in DAOC. Its much needed for WoW.

EQ II does look deep, I like some of the concepts with it, but to me because its SoE, I won't buy it. SoE has won many awards for being the worst in customer service, just look at SWG, and Planetside. Nerf one class, buff another. Vanu is underpowered....Next patch Vanu is overpowered. Blizzard Entertainment, is atleast working on thier game trying to give us a patch every month atleast. The last patch they put in, fixed the game incredible amounts. Added talents for Pallys and Hunters, on top of that fixed a lot of issues. Take some time and read the patch notes from the last few patches and you will see that Blizzard is really doing things well for WoW and I think thats why I will like WoW over EQ II.

I expect a complete and thorough comparison of WoW vs EQ2 vs CoH on my desk first thing next week... or else...
You should have plenty of time with WoW over the Thanksgiving break to provide us all with this much needed information.

                            Have a great Thanksgiving!
