There were a couple of articles out there and YT vids on the optimal settings for this kind of set up. I used them as a baseline. .

48+ hours in. Love the game. 9.5 for me. All I wanted was Oblivion/Fallout in space and it hit the target. Sorry if I'm repeating myself if I mentioned it in a prior post, but the things I really dislike:

1.) the inventory system is pretty poorly implemented. I know you can cycle by weight, value and name, but I wish the categories and filters were more vast. I hate that digipicks are lumped into misc. with all the junk. So easy to sell.

2.) I forgot where I built an outpost. Oops.

3.) The outpost building 'camera' angles are truly dreadful.

4.) I forgot where I built an outpost. I mentioned it already, but lawd. I FORGOT.

5.) The UI isn't great, in my opinion, asides from just the inventory. Going around the starmap is a bit aggravating. I wish that you could bookmark or favorite planets, and if there was a way to group those 'favorites' or whatever into categories, that would be wonderful.

6.) Lack of a custom waypoint of some sorts. Kinda goes hand in hand with the bookmarks/favorites in #5. Wish I could place a custom waypoint somewhere, where I want to check out but not immediately, so I can come back to it with relative ease.

Hey, thanks for saying this and not bashing it! Truly an act of maturity.

So many 'reviewers' have been writing things like, "BORING!" without context or including personal misgivings that roll over into odd attacks towards the game that are unwarranted or untrue. It's odd to see.

But Bethesda games aren't everybody's thing, or the setting isn't people's preference. All good, all good!

I'm the same way with certain titles (Hi-Fi Rush released earlier this year, as a surprise drop for Game Pass, was heavily praised and I simply did not enjoy it all despite badly wanting to).
Hey bro...thanks for wondering where I'm at...I have been crazy addicted to this game since launch, so much so in fact that the game has taken me away from all my other games, and that includes Madden 24 (which I was playing everyday)

After roughly about 15 hours so far (and going strong) this game in no way shape or form is a "7" as IGN and I believe Gamespot gave it. I do NOT go by review scores at all, the only "review" that counts is mine! I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I would've listened to reviews I would've missed out on games that I really enjoy.

With that out of the way, with Starfield being a new IP (which a lot of folks seem to never mention) this game is absolutely amazing! (imo) from the gunfights, space combat, and exploration ...I am having an absolute blast so far.

I've only played something like 3 main missions and been doing nothing but side stuff mixed in with a bit of exploration.

With all the good stuff about the game, there are a few issues I do have with it though...

1-Silent main character, I know this might not be an issue for some, but I enjoy my character having a voice....lol

2-Way to many loading screens...at times it makes me feel "disjointed" from the game or my location due to the loading screens...not a gamebreaker (hate that term) by any stretch, just a bit of a disappointment.

3-some sort of a mini map would be nice in some of these locations, I can't for the life of me remember where ANY of the shops are located...lol unless I'm missing something, this would have been nice.

Alot of the other stuff I haven't really dug into yet, I have looked at the ship building stuff and buying ships, and man some of that is expensive...lol I think I'm just going to either save up for a ship or "borrow" one...lol

Overall though, for ME and my enjoyment this game is easily a 9-9.5.

I can't wait to see what the future holds for this title...

Ok, starting to get a bit frustrated here...lol

I was out and about exploring and came across a ship that I felt I needed to "borrow"...lol After doing everything needed to make the ship mine, and doing a few side missions...I have come across a side mission that involves taking out a few baddies....

This particular mission is a 2 stage mission, take out the first set of baddies then zoom to another section and repeat...I got the first part done, but for some reason the second half is killing me...lol

The issue is my hull is too weak and I for the life of me can't remember where to pick up mats for hull repair...I need some to take into battle, but have no idea where to look...lol

I went back to Atlantis and repaired my ship, sold a bunch of stuff and went so far as attempted to upgrade my ship , no to avail. I thought I would be able to buy the mats for hull repair, but haven't been so lucky...still loving the game though....lmao

Thanks Bard, I had actually just got done doing a quick search...there's one located in Atlantis also, which is where I am currently docked.

Sheesh gentlemen, I’m coming to the realization (I don’t like it one bit), that I’m losing interest in some games overall. I’m a HUGE fan of open world RPGs, your red deads, fallouts, etc. The excitement is still there initially, but once I boot up, I’m not lasting long. I’m attempting to figure out what it is (physics, color pallet, etc) that draws me into a game immediately.

Whatever it is, it has to work FAST or I’m gone. I made it as far as the initial mining portion, then turned it off with zero interest to continue. I’ll make another attempt to play tomorrow and see how I feel.

                        It's like 15 minutes.

I'm 20ish hours in to this game and am having a blast. Game really opened up for me about 12-15 hours in.

                          Re: Starfield

While I'm still enjoying the game (have close to 20 hours) it has started to lose some momentum for me.

I have been dabbling in the ship building and upgrade sections only to become incredibly frustrated with this aspect of the game.

IMO, this area of the game is over complicated just for the sake of being complicated...wait, did that make sense?...lol

I mean while being docked in Atlantis, I wanna swap out my base cockpit, only to find out I can't as this particular base doesn't specialize in this particular upgrade...so now I have to go all around the universe and HOPE I find that particular base that does, or I have to live on Youtube to see where I need to go.

Also just doing simple upgrades is a pain...as an example, opening the menu to "upgrade ship" shows the stats on your ship, so in an attempt to upgrade a weapon lets say...I pick an upgrade that gives me a single bar of an upgrade, exit then faced with the upgrade is in the cargo hold?...

So what then?, am I supposed to go to the hold and locate it there? Also after purchasing said upgrade, I then take off only to see the upgrade simply did not apply, and is not there.

So not sure what I'm doing wrong, and after watching several vids STILL not seeing what I'm doing wrong. This aspect of the game is really a downer for me so far as I am enjoying pretty much everything else.

I really like the game, and the main story is intriguing me about six hours in, but I'm starting to think ship building isn't gonna be for me. If I can't steal a good ship, I'm probably gonna be too frustrated.

Also, is it just me or is ammo very hard to come by? I find myself having to use my mining laser in combat most of the time.

I'm still enjoying the game for now, but I'm starting to see where people's frustrations are.

Umm you can buy ammo. Early on in the game with the early on weapons, ammo is pretty cheap. Once you start to get weapons from mid game, ammo is pricey. However you find a good amount of ammo too during missions. I loot lockers, desks, fridges, cases and dead bodies. Always find ammo and credits, so that is something I never really run out of. I also loot weapons so I have over a dozen weapons.

I think I am near the end of the game, going to have to build up some credits and level up my ship quite a bit. The ships at my stage of the game are quite powerful, like level 30 and above. Now I will agree with ship building being hard. Ship upgrading though is pretty straight forward. I will explain from what I learned so far. 3 levels of pilot licenses: A, B, C. A works with A, B works with B and A, C works with all 3. Ships and parts are all classed by pilot level license level. Different ports sell different ships and different parts. I can totally understand why they did it this way. Why would you explore the huge galaxy they made if you can just buy everything from the port where you start the game from ?

One can just look at the skill tree design and tell that the game is made for and encourages you to EXPLORE. Storyline is pretty good and has that Mass Effect vibe going for it since both storylines are quite similar. But if you are not into exploring, then I can see this game being a turn off since everything in the game is based on exploring. Leveling up your skill tree requires you to explore. Wanting the best ship, encourages you to explore. Hell even if you want to steal a ship, you have to explore.
