It seems that the PSP is getting about 5-6 hours of battery life from a single charged, without Wi-Fi.

What's the DS getting...?

they say it averages about 11 to 12 hours, more or less like the GBA:sp.

Not according to IGN:

"4.75 hours of gaming + 1 hour of mp3's"

On mid backlight setting.

This is crazy... battery life is one of those things I've worried about with my PDA for work... but now for a game machine as well!

Battery: Lithium ion battery delivering six to 10 hours of play on a four-hour charge, depending on use; power-saving sleep mode; AC adapter

I think the 11-12 hours battery life would be if you are only playing GBA games, then it will range from 6-10 if you play a mix of GBA, DS and Wi-fi games.

I'm not trying to dog on the PSP, but there are reports of some quality issues with the first batch of units sold to the public. More info here: http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=4010

I'm sure these issues are the exception and not the rule, but just reinforces my policy of buying the replacement plan from the retailer whenever I buy a new console. Of course, I had to have both a PS2 and Xbox fail on me before I figured that one out

I'm half kicking myself. I had a chance to buy one today from a guy who worked at game crazy. He owned three and when I asked if they had any DS's he said the would have a used one in a moment. He had a DS with 3 games, a metal case and some other accessories. He was going to sell it to me on the spot for $200. He said once he put it in the system it would go for around $260. Im strapped for cash so I decided to save money and pay the mortgage and bills instead. I really want one but I guess it will be better to wait.

I wouldn't put too much stock in that site, as I'm sure any problems will be addressed before the launch here.
