Re: Shadow of the Tomb Raider

I always wondered if that kind of thing could happen in a game. That's both incredibly scary and sad.

One of the reasons why I always created 3-4 save points for every game that I play though, and just cycle through them every sit-down. Even if I have to rollback a couple of hours of play, so be it. Better than starting over.

Always nice to spend $75.00 on a game and get 3 hours of gameplay. I blame the developers for this. I have been collecting like a madman, and I am missing 1 bird feather to be able to craft feathers, which aren't to common in the first place. The sad part is, I am probably 90% through the puzzle.

Did you try backtracking to where you're outside so you can gather the resources you need to move forward? Also, what difficulty level are you playing on for exploration and puzzles?

Maybe the new team messed up, but at least on the first two games, items you needed would replenish. At least they did on easy mode. I never would have gotten past that stupid bear if more mushrooms didn't show up in Rise.

I am. Combat, exploration and puzzles all set to hard with Beacons and Survival Instincts also off. Not really hard as im at the main hub area Paititi and was only stumped on two challenge tombs for maybe 5 minutes each. I have died a good amount of times in trial and error when jumping and obviously missing or not having anything to grab onto but I expected this seeing as how nothing is painted or highlighted.

The biggest issue I have with playing on hard is that trying to collect all the collectibles on the first play-through is a pain to do. My plan is that once I get to the "end game" where it gives you that notice that you won't be able to go back until completion, I'll most likely lower the difficulties so I can find all the collectibles to get 100% completion because I finish the story in any game, the game is done.

Instead of the three gameplay aspects having a difficulty level, I would have preferred just an overall difficulty level and have all the other options given an on/off option. So for example, I want a waypoint but on hard, there isn't one so I would have preferred this to be "on" while "white paint for ledges" would have been "off" for me. Simply not a fan of the difficulty levels for each gameplay aspect. Would prefer all games to follow The Witcher III and Horizon Zero Dawn in which there's basically an on/off option for everything.

Overall, thus far the game is an excellent 9/10 for me. Same as ROTTR which if you love that one, you should love SOTTR because it simply doubles down on pretty much everything but lessens the combat encounters.

They destroyed what made the original PS game fun. Now it's a fake stealth game with some platforming.

This one. I really liked and beat the first, didn't finish Rise, but this one just turns me off for some reason. I may still get it at some point

I personally never liked the old original PSone games at all. I easily prefer this rebooted series a lot more but with that said, SOTTR is basically a jungle version of RISE but with bigger HUB areas and less combat encounters. They added more stealth elements but it doesn't have the impact in SOTTR that it would have had in RISE because of the lower enemy combat encounters. At least, that's how I feel 30% overall into the game and currently at the Paititi HUB area until the end of the week due to work.

I had a similar view to the first two games. I finished the second one but I didn’t like it as much as the first and that seemed to be the consensus when reading some reddit threads.

I’ve also read this final game is very stealth based, less combat and some don’t like the story. I’m not a huge fan of too much stealth but my second attempt with HZD has helped me accept it. About to start this game soon (almost done HZD) and keeping my expectations down will help!

HZD is similar and i enjoyed it. Maybe i just miss some of the old school TR elements like the dual pistols, back flips and summersalts lol.
