It's stunning on the PRO especially with HDR. Oh man. SOTTR is easily a 10/10 in the visual department. In fairness though, nowadays, I think that every AAA game is a 10/10 visually.

Re: Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Finished SOTTR. 100% overall completion for all the regions in 38 hours. If you love Rise, Shadow basically doubles down on everything but with less combat for the first half of the game which I can understand because the shooting mechanics and feel of the weapons are simply "off" as they don't feel as good as they did in Rise. Add in the horrible shoulder swapping that occurs when you're trying to aim and move due to the R3 button being very sensitive is very aggravating and frustrating.

Visually, SOTTR looks amazing. Audio is all good except for the some of the weapons as they just sound off to me. Voice acting is well done for the most part. Story and characters are better than Rise and the final boss was good as was the ending. Tombs were all excellent and it was the easier more simpler ones that took me 10 minutes or so where as the harder ones were easier.

Basically, Shadow is identical to Rise but instead of snow, you have jungles. Better story but less combat and weaker shooting. Overall, a 9.0/10 for me personally. Really enjoyed the game for the most part.

Only halfway through but I’m just going to say I think this is the weakest of the 3 TR games. This game is so mediocre. The story is weak, combat scarce and platforming a bit frustrating at times. This could have been so much better. I am largely playing it because I paid for it. I think I would have enjoyed replaying UC4 instead. There is just nothing special about this game. About halfway through the main missions as I’m on Hidden City (11/21). Maybe everything picks up like you said but I won’t hold my breath.

Edit: I’m actually on the 14/21 story per that link. I’m just glad I got a good sale. Should have still waited and played Spiderman first.

The original game is the weakest of the three for me. Great game but Rise and Shadow simply evolved and elevated everything. Story and character wise, Shadow is definitely slow but once you see the first twist which I think you already came across in Paititi, the story picks up. The second half also has three action sequences. The second twist is good too.

I don't think the game is mediocre at all. If anything, the release date and lower review scores have hurt the game in the eyes of most people. Didn't really have any problems with the plat-forming as I was playing on hard so whenever I died or messed up a jump, it was on me due to the difficulty. I simply think that the game was released at a horrible time. Since it went Gold on July 24th, the game should have been released in mid to late August before Spider Man. This would have helped the game in majorities eyes better than what it actually is.

To be perfectly honest, Uncharted 4 was a disappointment to me. At best, an 8.5/10. Picked ROTTR as my 2016 goty over Uncharted 4 as the majority of Uncharted 4, I simply didn't enjoy and a lot of the game was just too much of a soap opera, wasted characters that didn't need to be in the game, basic puzzles, few action sequences, horrible pacing and a horrible final boss fight which reminded me of the final boss fight in MGS 2. Of course, this is just my own personal opinion.

I played Spider Man to 100% completion as well and when I first played SOTTR, I wasn't feeling it all that much but it grew on me as I kept playing plus I did everything in each region as I was going through the story. I think it was more about just enjoying Spider Man more than I was expecting. In the end though, I just wish the gunplay was better. Overall, again an easy 9/10 for me but in fairness, I did love RISE so that also plays into it where as you didn't.

I'll be honest, I very rarely remember the story and sometimes I don't even pay attention to them while I'm playing.

I caved and bought this yesterday. Playing through Cozumel now and so far the controls are pretty straightforward.

My only problem is how dark the game is. Sometimes I have a hard time seeing things. Thankfully the R3 sense thing helps.

Some of the stealth areas are poorly designed. I’m only armed with a knife, I kill a guy with a gun but can’t pick up the gun? Why? Simply because the game doesn’t want me too.

I had killed like 9 dudes in a row like that and I'm thinking, would be great if I could pick up that automatic right now instead of forcing me to sneak

Wait. What? That's super disappointing. Is there at least a reason in the story? Would the gun alert too many people?

No reason. It’s later in the game when they force this upon you and makes zero sense that you can’t use an enemies weapon. It’s just one combat section but it immediately hits you as making no sense. I haven’t finished the game yet but at least the combat has picked up.

Also, the challenge tombs do give out some nice RPG rewards. I wasted upgrading my bow to multiple targets and I’ve never been able to figure out how to use it. I think it must be a stealth type thing. I should have went for the dodge and counter move first. So many RPG elements that despite the length of the game you will never unlock them all until NG+ I’m guessing.

I wish you could sell back weapons to the merchants. HZD had a better system imo.

Just finished the game this morning. I definitely would tell those that haven't bought it yet to wait till black Friday, because it's not worth the current price

The Last of Us was sort of like this, at least with ammo. If you had "enough" for the game to want you to have, they wouldn't drop more for you.

This annoyed me as well until I realized that the gunplay isn't great so when you think about it, the game is doing you a favor. LOL.
